Almeria is one of Spain’s hidden jewels. Wild mountains, picturesque white villages, stunning local cuisine and a wealth of culture and nightlife. You are just a short distance from famous film sets, where Lawrence of Arabia, Indiana Jones, A Fist Full Of Dollars and other Spaghetti Westerns were filmed. All these film sets can be visited. The house is next to a National Park, containing Europe’s only desert. You are surrounded by mountains and ancient olive groves studded with beautiful wild flowers. The villa is 30 minutes away from one of Spain’s last unspoilt coastlines, and the Cabo de Gato National Park has many fabulous virgin beaches and whitewashed villages in tiny bays. 25 minutes away is Almeria, the regional capital, which has managed to preserve its Moorish heritage. Here you will find a beautiful castle, winding streets, cafes, authentic tapas bars, plenty of shopping, and a thriving flamenco scene. It also has recently opened modern art and photographic museums.

The front of the house has a large covered porch, perfect for dinner in the evening and overlooked by a fantastic fairy tale castle, lit up from below at night. What visitors have said about Casa Encuentro |

We had a lovely nine day holiday here in June 2011 with two families including four children aged between 9 and 13.
The house is just as described, beautifully designed and maintained to a high standard. It is a very spacious house with lovely grounds and a great pool, long enough to actually do some proper swimming! It is quite a deep pool, perfect for diving, but little ones won't be able to touch the bottom so best suited to swimmers. The views from the house are very dramatic, from the poolside you look towards the hills with the desert beyond and there are many walks straight from the house.
We would highly recommend the bushcraft course, we spent a day with Neil who is great fun and very knowledgeable. The children loved it! One daughter also enjoyed the horse riding nearby.
We ventured down to the coast one day, it took us about an hour to get to Mojacar where we ate in one of the beach restaurants. It is quite touristy here, but beaches were clean and empty. We didn't get to see any of the more remote beaches because the children loved the pool so much.
We would highly recommend the property, the house has far more personality than a holiday home, and the owner Belinda is really helpful and very friendly. Definitely a very enjoyable relaxing holiday, thank you!
