The traditional village house is situated on the edge of the village opposite a shady pine forest. We have two double ensuite rooms plus a family suite with adjoining twin and double rooms with a shower room. We have a comfy lounge with satellite TV and free wifi - and a sunny roof terrace with stunning views over the village and surrounding countryside.
Known as "balcony of the white villages" (or balcon de los pueblos blancos), El Gastor is a typically beautiful Andalucian mountain village with meandering cobbled streets, charming flower-decked whitewashed houses and a typical village square. Located just above the shores of Lake Grazalema and on the edge of Sierra de la Grazalema Natural Park, the surrounding scenery is stunning and breathtaking.
This traditional, yet lively village, has everything you could want - everything from beautician to butcher - and countless tapas bars all within walking distance. |

Further Details |
El Gastor could not be better placed to visit the rest of Andalucia. It’s just 20 minutes from the historic town of Ronda, perched spectacularly on a gorge spanned by the famous Puente Nuevo. Ronda is renowned for its beautiful Moorish architecture, one of the oldest bullrings in the country and the many Roman ruins. Within an hour's drive are the cities of Seville, Jerez and the port of Cadiz with the famous seafood area of Puerte de la Santa Maria. Less than 2 hours drive is the world famous Alhambra Palace in Granada and the stunning city of Cordoba. Closer at hand are the magical white villages (pueblos blancos) of Arcos de la Frontera, Setenil, Grazalema and Zahara de la Sierra - to name but a few and all worth a visit. For nature lovers and artists alike, the Grazalema and Sierra de la Nieves Natural Parks boast exceptional flora and fauna and amazing landscapes.

What visitors have said about B&B in El Gastor Village Lodgings |

We only stayed a day with Jackie and John at the end of our holiday. The house is spotless and our hosts were fantastic, it was such a shame (for us !) that we didn't know about them till after we booked our holiday.
All we can say is that if you want to stay in a lovely village, with great surroundings and the most friendly people we have meant , then head for this B&B!!
We are currently telling all our walking friends about John and Jackie and hope that we will get to return to this wonderful part of Spain we will stay with them this time!

We were given the warmest possible welcome by John and Jackie as soon as we entered their beautiful home. Even though our arrival was around midnight they were more than happy to help answer our questions - John even took us for a drink at the bar next door to help us fit straight in. Our room was wonderfully decorated in the traditional Andalucian/Moorish style that prevails in this part of Spain and the bathroom was kept very clean. My partner and I were happy to see that we had also been supplied with a small library of books to read and a number of magazines to flick through.
As impressive as the room was, the best feature of the B&B has to be the breakfast. I actually began refering to it as the 'morning banquet' such was the quality and the amount of food on offer. From a fresh fruit salad, to cereals, jams, breads and unlimited tea / coffee and juice it would easily cater for even the biggest appetite. The rooftop terrace is also available for the use of guests. We spent many relaxing afternoons looking at the stunning views whilst reading and sunning ourselves. Within days the B&B began to feel like a home from home which is testament to the way John and Jackie run this real gem of a place. They even allowed us to watch the football in their front room as well as feeding us later in the evening. Not many Bed and Breakfasts go the extra mile that John and Jackie of El Gastor Lodgings do. I would happily recommend this place to anyone who wants a relaxing break in a stunning setting with the best service available.

We chose El Gastor based on reviews we'd read on-line ... they didn't let us down. It is a slice of heaven. Jackie & John were absolutely gorgeous and couldn't have been more helpful. The accommodation is really beautiful. The surrounding area is spectacular and we managed to do some glorious hikes, visit the nearby caves and spend some time in beautiful Ronda. As a base, El Gastor is perfect. The village itself is beautiful and the friendliness of the villagers is truly refreshing.
I would highly recommend El Gastor to a couple, a family or, like us, a group getaway. It really was a perfect break.

We stayed in the beautiful El Gastor near Ronda again this summer and had a brilliant time. We stayed in a lovely, clean and comfortable en-suite in El Gastor Village Lodgings which is perfectly situated at the top of the village. Its situation allowed us to get our and expore the area easily on foot locally, and further afield in our car. We spent several evenings with a bottle of wine enjoying the sunset on the terrace with some food on the BBQ - just beautiful.
The couple who run the place, John and Jackie, made sure we were comfortable and looked after - leaving us in peace unless we needed help or assistance from them, and happy to help us get the most from our trip. One example was when I had some trouble with my hire car and John was really helpful in getting me a replacement delivered from Malaga the next morning!
The village of El Gastor is beautiful, and very close (20 mins or so) from Ronda and other typically-Spanish surrounds with alcoves, squares and bars to explore. The local tapas, such as the jamon bellotta (pata negra) available in many of the cafes and restaurants nearby, are a must! Our only complaint is that we could only stay with them for 5 nights before continuing on our world tour!
I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone thinking of visiting Ronda or its surrounds - a real gem. We will definitely return.

If you are looking to explore life in Andalucia's "Pueblos Blancos", El Gastor Village Lodgings is the perfect, central location. The town is small enough that you can truly feel like you've gotten off the touist beaten path, but still easily accessible to the other villages, including Ronda which is only a short drive away. We stayed with Jackie and John for a week in their delightful B&B and were treated with welcoming hospitality, a delicious breakfast each day, and a lovely, comfortable room. The common area/living room is also very nice, and we loved hearing the church bells from the rooftop terrace.
We loved exploring the area. There are plenty of day hikes around town and in the nearby Sierra de la Grazalema national park, a beautiful town swimming pool, and our personal favorite, "La Playita" a grassy recreation and picnic area with a large natural pool. it's important to have a car to explore this area, the drives are spectacular! The B&B has free, easy parking, which is something you likely will not find in Ronda.
We truly loved it here and highly recommend it for a visit to this part of Spain.

Very cosy bed & breakfast, good atmosphere. Very clean!!! We could make use of the roof terrace and lounge. Unfortunately we had some bad weather the first few days but we found ourselves lucky to be at the El Gastor B&B where it was cosy inside where we could watch tv (sattelite) in the lounge, make ourselves coffee and tea...! The breakfast was really great and the owners are very friendly and hospitable. Would definately recommend it!

Centrally located for visits to Ronda, Zahara de Sierra, Grazalema and surroundings. We really felt at home. Our room was clean and the 2p-bed was fine. The breakfast, served in our 'own' dining room was fabulous. John and Jackie are real hosts!

We had a short break away in Andalucia and after reading previous reports on this website about El Gastor I decided to book it. And sure enough it was fantastic The B&B is truly wonderful, John and Jackie are great hosts and thier attention to detail is noted throughout the house. The breakfast was brillant, beats a magdalena in plastic wrap any day!! I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone thinking of taking a trip to Andalucia.

Just returned from our third year staying six nights with John & Jackie McAngus. They are perfect hosts enthusiastically welcoming four ancient walkers year after year. Nothing is too much trouble. From being greeted with a cup of tea when you emerge for breakfast, you can make your own in the room if you wish, followed by a large choice at breakfast, to a cheerful greeting at the end of the day, followed by a lovely hot bath or shower, before watching the sun go down on the terrace with a pre dinner drink to hand. They helped plan our walks supplying, walking routes, weather forecasts, travel times & traveling arrangements. From the roof terrace Olvera is visible in the distance. This is the upper end of the 36 Km Via Verde de la Sierra which can be cycled or walked in whole or in part, a relatively flat easy route after the high mountain walks. We cycled it all hiring bikes at Coripe Station. Perfect hosts in a perfect B&B.
