Altiplano Tipis is situated in stunning countryside just 4 km from the market town of Baza with its many cafes, bars and restaurants, only an hour away from the historic city of Granada with its international airport. Baza itself boasts a rich and historical past, where one can spend a pleasant day strolling around the numerous shops and cafes, a museum, a theatre, cinemas, and view the abundant historical buildings. Granada is only an hour's drive away, and the famous Alhambra Palace as a tourist destination is not too far for a day's visit. Baza is surrounded by unique villages with plenty to offer. Zujar for it's hot baths, Orce with its cobbled streets and nearby archaeological site, the quaint town of Caniles with its beautiful square. Only half an hour’s drive away is the troglodyte market town of Gaudix. |

There is a wide variety of activities and places to visit in this stunning area of Spain. For water lovers, just 20 minutes drive away is the beautiful Lake Negratin. You can hire our kayak boat for a day on the lake, suitable for two children and two adults. The area has several national parks, where there is abundant flora and fauna. The outstanding Sierra de Castril, with its rugged limestone mountainous region and Sierra de Baza national park which is mostly pine clad with rugged mountainous terrain. From our site you can take a walk along the various tracks, across the countryside and explore the many derelict caves that surround us. A short stroll away is Al Jatib, a traditional cave hotel, where you can enjoy a meal. The hotel also offers Arabic baths, constructed within the cave itself, a natural solarium and massage room. The beach is just 1.5 hours drive. |

| Altiplano Tipis is very well serviced by a number of international Airports. Granada (1 hour), Almeria (1 hour), Murcia (2 hours), Alicante and Malaga (2.25 hours). We can organise airport pick ups for you from €60 (Granada) to €140 (Malaga, Murcia, Alicante). Buses are available from Malaga,Granada, Alicante to Baza. Our Tipis are fully equipped with a comfortable double camping bed, feather duvet and linen or alternatively two single camp beds are available. The Tipis are on a ground sheet with locally made rugs and there is a wicker basket to keep your belongings in. We provide oil lamps for the evening. Each tipi also has its own private shower, sink and toilet, which is located within one of the cave structures. Our hot water runs off our solar system. We also have a charming rustic cave dwelling studio within our courtyard, typical of this troglodyte area of Andalucia. Our cave is light and airy with an ensuite shower room, double bed and woodburner for cosy winter evenings. We provide towels, and in biodegradable shower gel, shampoo and soap. Our outside kitchen with BBQ, gas hob, sink, fridge, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery is available if you wish to create your own culinary delights!

There is lots to do in the surrounding area including a trip to the stunning Lake Negratin or exploring the derelict caves nearby. Or if you prefer, simply relax with a good book under the shade of the pergola by your tipi or take a dip in our above ground a freshwater pool. Our above ground freshwater pool is situated in our courtyard and is 9 x 4metres. It contains no harmful chemicals. We have a solar floatron that filters out ions that then destroy any harmful bacteria.

Our chic camping experience is also available during the winter months from October to April. For those seasoned campers who would like to enjoy a winter break in the stunning Altiplano region of Spain we advise you pack a warm jumper or two, woolly socks, and warm jacket. It can be chilly in the early mornings and the nights draw in towards end of Sept until the spring. But the days can be mild and sunny. A fabulous time of year to enjoy walking, bird watching and cycling in the cooler months of the year. As the season changes from summer into Autumn the trees turn a fabulous yellow, red and gold against the mountain backdrop. We supply the hot water bottles and warm blankets! Inflatable boat with oars and life jackets for two adults and two children. €25 a day hire.
We have bikes to hire at €8 per day per bike.

Conditions of Rental |
All prices are based on self catering with continental breakfast included, for up to two people sharing. An additional child per Tipi can be accommodated. We can also offer exclusive hire of the entire site by prior arrangement. We offer a continental breakfast which is included in your stay, bread or croissants, homemade marmalade and jams, fair trade fresh coffee, tea, and fruit juice, We also offer a full cooked breakfast with a vegetarian option at a cost of €10 per person. We can provide you with a simple choice of tapas, vegetarian is a speciality. We also offer packed lunches. The first evening's wood bundle is free, we charge €6 per basket thereafter. We offer a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, bread for stays over 3 days. For a small fee of 3E per load we offer a washing service.

Stayed at Altiplano Tipis in August 2009 and had a ball. The scenery is stunning and it's incredibly peaceful, with just the wildlife to keep you company. The owners, Andrew and Louise, were the perfect hosts from the moment we arrived to the time we departed... I can't recommend this holiday highly enough.

Cute as a button, Altiplano Tipis is a quaint luxury tipi camping site near to the town of Baza that we found while travelling around Andalusia. The three tipis situated in the courtyard were like a picture postcard, brightly coloured yellows and blues against a backdrop of the whitewashed cave house of the friendly owners, Louise and Andrew. The tipis were very comfortable and had a homely feel with coloured rugs on the floor and we even had our own private shower room, which made a nice change from our previous camping experiences!
