General Info |
|
| |
The house is in the far west of the country in the Soca Valley, which runs through the Julian Alps and the Triglav National Park. This is on the Italian boarder, which explains the italian influence on food in the area. Running the length of the Soca valley is the Soca river, from its source in the heart of the Triglav National Park to the Medeterrenian. The water in the Soca river is from melted snow and is a stunning blue colour because of the minerals it picks up at its source. The village restaurant/bar is 5 minutes walk from the house. It serves good local food at a very reasonable price. The house itself is basic and rustic, but well equipped and comfortable. |

Further Details |
Slovenia is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe. It has a population of around 2 million and is about the size of Wales so there is a feeling of space and lots of unspoilt countryside to explore. It is the second most wooded country in Europe after Finland, which makes it lush and green in spring and summer and golden in the autumn. The weather is similar to northern Italy and is stable. It has a small coast line in the bottom left corner and much of the country is protected by national parks. The people are lovely; very friendly and welcoming. Many of them speak English or German/Italian so getting around is easy. Slovenia, and the Julian Alps in particualar, is a fantastic centre for activity holidays with tons of watersports, outdoor activites and adventures to be had. Start with white water rafting, kayaking, canyoning, hiking, hydrospeeding (body surfing down white water rapids), mountain biking, caving, climbing, paragliding and end up with wine tasting and dining in beautiful surrounds. In the winter there is a choice of skiing locations for all abilities.

What visitors have said about My House in Slovenia |
| |
| |
I thought I'd drop a line to say how much we enjoyed staying in your house at Idrsko. We felt at home and comfortable there and thoroughly enjoyed the peace of the village. We are quite taken with that part of Slovenia, and the country generally, and fell in love with it; the people, fresh air, mountains and lovely clean rivers were ideal surroundings to relax in. Thank you.
