A romantic all-season hideaway cottage, great for 3 season walking, winter skiing or just relaxing with the mountains for company. At 930 m above sea level, Zrub Zuzana lies in the Conservation Area for Folk Architecture of Antošovský Vrch, above the village of Ždiar, Slovakia. On the edge of Slovakia's High Tatras National Park, there is a wonderful ‘away from it all’ feeling. It is a great place for wildlife, with deer and even corncrake around the house. With fabulous views and first-class facilities, Zrub Zuzana can offer a romantic getaway for 2 or a high-energy activity holiday for 8; with comfortable accommodation to wind down after a day's skiing or just chill out and listen to the silence. Still a working village, you can glimpse traditional rural life, with horses being used to till the land and even take you on a sleigh-ride in the snow! |

Further Details |
35 km from Poprad and its airport. Its traditional architecture and tranquil location gives Zrub Zuzana an ‘olde worlde charm’, brought bang up-to-date with modern facilities. Romantic hideaway or outdoor pursuits centre, you can ski, cycle, walk, fish, golf, relax in a local spa or just sit and watch the endless variety of the view. The nearest shop is in Zdiar at about a kilometre, where there are a number of small bars and restaurants. Belianske Jeskyne caves are 10km; Kezmarok, Levoca and Spis castle are all in easy reach. Because of the traditional log construction, some doorways include a high threshold (200mm), so although the property is on one level, wheelchair access would be difficult.

We had a wonderful week. You have a wonderful cottage and all the facilities were well above the regular standard which made for a very comfortable stay.

Thanks very much for all the help that (you) gave us for last week. We had a wonderful time and would love to return some day.
D & I holiday for at least 8 weeks per year and, being hotel/guest house haters, have stayed in many apartment-style accommodations over the years. We had a long argument about whether this was the best we had ever stayed in. I thought it was but D likes to watch the TV so she decided because of that she would place it at 2nd best.

'We've been to many (self-catering) properties over the years and this is the best'

'In one word: it was fantastic. Thank you very much for everything. We will recommend the house to our friends and family members. We will come back - to see the house under the snow.'

'Speechless! (in the best sense of the word)'
'The house is beautiful and renovated inside to a very high standard. The friendly support from the Dixeys and Miro was very reassuring and contributed to a memorable stay.'
J & L, UK, Aug 2009

'Beautiful cottage, very clean and very remote, although a challenge to get to. We waded through waist deep snow to get to the door after a day's skiing 'not for the faint hearted'. But once inside with the fire burning and hearty meals cooked in the lovely kitchen it's your perfect ski chalet. Thanks again for everything - it was a fabulous holiday!'
