Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
The house is between the coastal villages of Pirnmill and Machrie which have a restaurant and tea room, golf course, tennis court, beaches, caves and bronze age stone circles. North is enchanting Lochranza with its ancient Castle, whisky distillery and scenic harbour where you can see seals and otters. Deer also graze along the shore and on the popular golf course. The Waverly, the last paddle steamer on The Clyde makes its regular summertime visits to the quay. From here you can also do a bit of Island hopping on the Cloanaig Ferry across to Kintyre, Gigha, Islay and Jura. For keen walkers and climbers there are beautiful gentle coastal walks to catch glimpses of porpoises, minke whales, dolphins, basking sharks, otters and birds; and for the more energetic hill walker there are dramatic routes through valleys, past waterfalls, up hills and to lochs all with stunning views, birds and wildlife. |

What visitors have said about Banlicken |
| |
| |
Banlicken is remote, stunningly beautiful, but also welcoming with a real family feel to the house. The accomodation is roomy, well appointed and feels very much like a home. The lush gardens are a mixture of the wild and the cultivated with rambling outbuildings to explore. The views are to die for. And there are no neighbours! Bliss. We spent our time walking, drinking and talking. We saw otters, seals, eagles, deer, breweries and distilleries.

The house is beautiful, and the area absolutely outstanding in all respects.

I don´t want to come back- I want to stay the rest of my life...
We (two familys including 5 children and one grandmother) had the chance to spend a week at Banlicken. It was perfect

Banlicken cottage is wonderful in its own right, large and well furnished with all the utensils needed for a holiday. It is beautifully set, with wonderful views of the sea, notably to the west which has the advantage of some of the most stunning sunsets I have seen.
