This Scottish Laird's large historic mansion sleeps up to 12 in 5 spacious bedrooms each with its own ensuite bathroom. It is a very grand holiday house in Scotland which overlooks the mountains and loch of a secluded glen in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. |

There is masses to keep you busy nearby and you will find a comprehensive information pack in the holiday house in Scotland. In the area are castles, historic houses (including Stronvar) and battle sites, as well as museums, visitor centres and whisky distilleries! You can visit the local safari park, play on one of the area’s 40 golf courses, go pony trekking, hillwalking, mountain climbing and cycling (the National Cycle track route 7 passes the entrance to Stronvar). You can rent bicycles from Callander (19km) or go fishing in our Loch Voil and many other nearby lochs. There are many pubs with excellent beer in the surrounding villages, and some outstanding restaurants which are worth trying out. For shopping, theatre and cinema, Stirling is only 45km away. You can also get the train to Glasgow and Edinburgh from Stirling, saving you parking difficulties in the larger cities! There is also a local village bus company which you can book. |

Getting There:
| Although less than 50km from Stirling train station and less than 100km from Glasgow and Edinburgh, there is no public transport to get to the property so having a car is essential. From Glasgow follow signposts to Stirling (M8 and M80) (From Edinburgh M9 ) then at Stirling, do not go into Stirling town, but at Junction 10 (M9) turn on to A84.(Signpost says Crianlarich and Callander) and follow this road for about 25 miles, through Callander, then Strathyre. In about 2 miles turn right at brown tourist sign at Kingshouse " Rob Roy's Grave, Balquhidder Church"
Follow signs to Balquhidder and after Church and Rob Roy's Grave on right go about 200 yards and turn left ( at village hall and red telephone box, Loch Voil in front of you). Over narrow stone bridge and immediately turn right up our drive for about quarter of a mile and follow black and white sign (bearing left at junction) and you are here! |

The kitchen is fully equipped with ceramic hob cooker, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer, refrigerator, food processor, belfast sink, original large Victorian crockery and utensils cupboard. The dining room has tables to enable alternative large table configurations with ample seating plus extras for additional dinner guests. Breakfast bar and electric organ. Views over mountains and garden. The lounge has four large sofas as well as additional seating. It also has a piano, smaller tables, bar, and a broadband connected PC. The large entrance leads up to the central hall with oak staircase to landing with five bedrooms leading off. All bedrooms have views over mountains and countryside.

There is a 2 acre garden of lawns and specimen trees which were originally planted by the past Lairds. From the gardens around the house are miles of mountains and countryside which guests are free to roam. Also the house overlooks Loch Voil which has some very pleasant easy walking by the shore.

The House is in the heart of the countryside. You will possibly meet the local Deer, Pine marten, squirrel and spectacular birdlife.
This is a comfortable old house with creaking floorboards plus perhaps an old ghost or two.
If you want Victoriana with even older historic features this is the place.
If you want a modern antiseptic new build with no character, you must go elsewhere!

Conditions of Rental |
A non refundable deposit of 30% is requested to confirm a reservation at the holiday house in Scotland. The remainder is due two months before arrival. Changeover day is normally Saturday. No smoking, fires, candles or tea lights allowed in the house. The house is available from April to September.
