The house is ideal for those wanting peace and quiet, it has always been very popular for honeymooners. The house is unfussy and comfortable. Families with children enjoy the opportunity to spend days at home by the pool, climbing trees, making dens and picking wild flowers. The house has been home to us and our children, so there are boxes of toys children's tapes and books. There is a gallery with a lounging area with books. You are very welcome to bring a pet. There are 4 acres to explore and no busy roads. The property is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, crisscrossed with footpaths through forests filled with flowers and birds. At the back of the mountain there are breathtaking views, and eagles circling overhead. At Christmas you can cut a Christmas tree from the grounds and light an enormous fire. Monchique has a very simple traditional Christmas. Electric heaters and electric fans are in the house. TV arranged on request. |

The house is situated in 4 acres. There is a dining area outside the kitchen with a granite table and barbeque. The swimming pool and garden is reached by a level path. This is particularly useful for people with small children as access to the area can be more easily monitored. Around the pool area are 4 wooden sunbeds with mattresses, wrought iron table and 4 chairs and an umbrella. There are pool toys in the woodshed. The pool is 5m x 10m, 2metres at the deep end and 1.2m at the shallow end where there are wide steps for easy access. The rest of the property is terraced with a variety of olive trees, fruit trees. and wild flowers. There are stunning views from the higher terrace to the foothills and coast. You are welcome to help yourself from our allotment and fruit from the trees.

Further Details |
The Quinta is ideal for those keen on walking, painting and birdwatching or holidaying with children and dogs. There are no busy roads. Footpaths stretch for miles from the property into the hills with stunning views and flora and fauna. It is possible to use the house as part of a larger groups and the owner can make arrangements for other houses in the area. Special interest holidays can also be arranged by the owner who runs a training company. Teachers can be provided for a range of topics, painting, personal change management and management development. This is the real Portugal, it is not a resort and there are few tourists. Those who do visit tend to come for lunch and to look at the view. This is the history of how we bought the Quinta: About 28 years ago we went looking in Portugal for a 2 bedroom house with no garden. Portuguese friends suggested we might like to visit a friend on the mountain - she knew a farmer who had some land. More out of curiosity the anything we went round to his house and sat in his kitchen, then went in his car to take a look. I remember coming over the hill ricocheting off the bolder on an unmade up track it was dusty and starting to rain. It was also love at first sight, the next morning we bought it -2 shacks and 5 acres, not quite what we had in mind! It took 2 years for me to become a Portuguese resident to make the sale official, then we sold the top shack and an acre and with the money renovated Quinta da Relva with the help of a local builder who still knew all the 'old ways'. It was 10 years from the start to when we opened for business...
