What visitors have said about Villa Tevere |
| |

Villa Tevere was everything and more that we dreamed it would be - peaceful, relaxing, inviting. We spent many hours with close friends enjoying the stunning views of the Umbrian country side and cooling off in the pool. Of course, we didn't get everything done we wanted to - just leaves the door open to plan another visit. Thanks so much, it was so hard to leave but we will always have the fantastic memories & pictures to treasure & share.

Villa tevere is a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy the beautiful umbrian hospitality. The main house is large but intimate and the staff are gracious, kind and helpful. Elda's cooking is wonderful and a day at the large and inviting pool transports you to another time. We have recommended it to all our friends.

We have stayed here twice and would highly recommend the property. Excellent location, not overlooked and tranquil setting. Personally love the gym!!!! Great both winter and summer.

We visited the Buck's house, located near the ancient and beautifully preserved town of Todi Umbria, in the winter of 2002. After coming up the long driveway, you arrive at the main house which is situated with spectacular views of the valley below and the surrounding Umbrian hills. Inside the house is warm and inviting flowing from one space to another with many different areas for socializing. Outside patio space is generous and suitable for everything from small family gatherings to large events.
For anyone looking for comfort and relaxation in the beauty and fresh air of the Umbrian countryside, we can highly recommend this property.

We stayed at Villa Tevere twice, both times in July in 2006 and 2007 for about 10 days.
Our general impression of the villa is very positive. Our stay gave us a boost of energy that lasted for a few months. The place is a real oasis of tranquillity and is very comfortable and stylish. The owners lived abroad and the place is decorated with an Oriental "twist" and with furniture that is of really good quality rather than something that appears to be bought especially for rental. It is also well placed for exploring the surrounding area - Todi is very nice and on your doorstep, and Orvieto and Assisi are fairly easy drive away. There are also smaller towns closer by than Orvieto that are very charming. The villa is also in a wine-growing area, so if you are interested in wine, this is a good place to be!
In 2006 there were only four of us staying (us and two children) and in 2007 we came with another 5 people (!). The villa is certainly big enough to cater for the 9 people that our group was composed of last time and it never felt overcrowded or inconvenient. It was great that there was an outhouse that accommodated the other family that came with us so whilst we still had a holiday together we were not in each other's face all of the time.
The maid service was very very good. Elda was what made our holiday very special and made us feel we are really in Italy rather than in a very pleasant but anonymous part of the world. She cooked authentic Italian local food for us every evening (we did not want to go out in the evenings because of our small children (the baby was only 6 months old the first time that we came)) and it was the best part of the day - relaxing and looking out over the hills from the terrace of the house. She also did the shopping for the meals that she cooked and cooked baby food for us as well. She can do general shopping as well on request, we think, but we did not ask her to do that. She obviously did the cleaning every day as well. S he always arrived on time, was fantastic with the children and very very helpful in all respects. I think that she is one of the main reasons we returned to the villa!
We also used the rental car company that was suggested and our experience was very positive. Stephano is a friend of the owners and we did not have any problems with either the quality of the car, or any nasty surprises at the check out inspection or any issues whatsoever. We arranged for Stephano to meet us in Rome in the hired car and transport us from the airport and take us back and this was money well spent because it removed completely the stress of getting to and from the airport.

The family had a fantastic vacation at villa Tevere. The quiet and private location is superb with beautiful views across glorious countryside but with easy access to towns, restaurants etc. The facilities offered by the villa and grounds are excellent, first class. All the children enjoyed themselves, with the older ones (ages 16 & 17) taking full advantage of the fitness facilities and enjoying their own separate accommodation, and the younger ones (ages 3 and 6) enjoying the swimming pool and the freedom to run around and play in a very safe environment. At the end of the day we all relished evenings on the verandah watching the sun go down followed by some terrific local cooking. Bliss!

This past September 2008 three of us couples from Ohio, USA stayed at Villa Tevere. Our experience was very positive. The villa itself is beautifully restored with all of the amenities one would hope for. The home is very clean and well maintained by the housekeeper. She will even prepare customised meals for a very reasonable fee. We took advantage of this option for three meals, and they were sensational, prepared in the Umbrian style. The grounds are filled with gardens of flowers, shrubs and herbs. The swimming pool is located above the villa, and the views from there are sensational. There is also an exercise room with a treadmill. The bedrooms have lovely views and the bathrooms are well equipped. There is a picnic pavillon on the patio near the kitchen for outdoor eating, and the kitchen is large and well appointed.
A major advantage of Villa Tevere is its strategic location only ten minutes by car from Todi, which is near the highway which runs between Rome and Florence. This makes daytrips to such interesting towns as Assisi, Trevi, Spello, Montefalco, Bevagna, Orvieto and Narni fairly simple. We also visited San Gemini, a lovely un-gentrified medieval town which lends itself to strolling liesurely before stopping for gelato. Near San Gemini are the Roman ruins of Carsulae, definitely worth a visit.
Todi itself is a interesting medieval hill town. Two of our best meals in Umbria were in Todi at Il Donatello for seafood, and at Pane e Vino. Todi is also a wonderful town for liesurely strolls. Like so many Umbrian towns, though, it is hilly, and good walking shoes are a must.
To see Umbria well a car is a necessity. The villa's owners are friends with a car rental agency in Todi which we strongly recommend. Their service is first class and they will even transport clients to and from the Rome airport for a reasonable fee. They met us at the Rome airport, and drove us to the villa where our rental car was waiting. This was pleasant for us after a trans-Atlantic flight.
We all agreed that we would rent this villa again without hesitation if we ever return to Umbria. The combination of the privacy, the physical beauty of the property, the cleanliness, and the amenities, and the convenient location for sightseeing in Umbria make this decision an easy one."

This was my third time at the villa and I couldnt wait to show the villa to my husband and my two teenage stepsons.
The villa gets more and more beautiful each time I visit.
I was a little concerned that two teenage boys would find it boring but with the pool, gym, internet and Elda (the cook), the boys loved it! They are already nagging me to book for next year.
Elda's cooking is amazing!
The villa is ideally situated for exploring the surrounding areas. There is a great out let centre just over an hour away. Places like Todi, Overtio are just a short drive away and if you wish to travel an 1hr to 2hrs the choice of day trip destinations is endless!
You do need a car and I recommend the car hire company used by the villa. There are sooo helpful and the have tom tom!
Book now and you will have a great holiday

We spent one week here at the end of July 2008 with our 2 children (4 and 6 years old) plus another family with 2 young children. It is absolutely fantastic - traditional but with all the mod cons, beautifully furnished (but not fussy), lots of space, lovely outdoor eating areas, amazing views and a great swimming pool which worked well for both adults and children with steps, shallow end, non-slippery tiles/stones around the edges and no sharp edges...our kids loved it and it was hard to get them out!! But perhaps the greatest thing was the availability of a fantastic Italian lady to shop, cook, clean for us if and when we wanted it.....her cooking was really tasty italian food which both the kids and us loved...and despite the language barrier we managed to communicate fine. The layout of the villa also works well for 2 families with additional accomodation in a small building next door. The nearby towns/villages (Todi, Orvieto) are lovely and we only wished we could have stayed longer. I would thoroughly recommend this villa to anyone considering a stay in Umbria.

This was our third stay at this wonderful place in Umbria and we discover more and more about the property itself and about the places around it each time. The villa is absolutely perfect with beautiful views over the wooded hills opposite and a relaxing atmosphere. The views can be perfectly enjoyed both in the day and in the evening whilst settled in the comfortable seating on the veranda. At night the distant lights on the hills opposite are very attractive. The beautifully furnished villa has everything that someone going on a villa holiday may want.
We are a family of 5 and came with a family of 3 and there enough space for all of us. The fact that some of the accomodation is in an adjoining building is very helpful because whilst we were on holiday together with the other family each of us could spend time privately if we so wanted.
I would like to mention the outlying garden, which is fenced and gated, most of which is open and perfect for running around and exploring. There is a small orchard with plum trees, we enjoyed picking the fruit which was tasty too, as well as lovely established shrubs and flowers. The garden is well looked after and really distinguised this villa from others. The children loved playing in it and it is big enough for a stroll for the adults and extends both below and above the villa.
We also really appreciated the services of the housekeeper who was very friendly and created a true Italian atmosphere which for us perfectly characterised and distinguished this holiday from other 'sunshine' summer holidays abroad. We asked her to cook for us every night because we did not want to go out in the evening with our small children and her cooking was more than a match for any of the restaurants we visited in the day and considerably better than some.
For those with smaller children like us the swimming pool is on an entirely separate level and we have found that on all three occasions that the distance was a sufficient barrier for our young ones not to venture there along with the normal vigilance of course. It might also be of interest for some that the same distance and obstacles allowed mummy or daddy to exercise in the gym and swim unencumbered with young ones in total tranquility.
We totally recommend this to anyone.

This year it was our second fantastic time we stayed at this villa.
Every time we come with 2 big families, including 3 children of ages 2,
3 and 4. Staying there is an outstanding experience. Beautiful view, 2
spacious and comfortable houses and big territory, impressive garden
with roses, lavender and fruit trees - lot's of places to walk and play
for children, nice swimming pool. Generally, it's a luxurious place with
a home atmosphere. The whole impression is as if you are staying at your
friend's houses, not in a rented property. There is a very cordial
service provided by the lady, who cooks and cleans. She even taught me
to cook Tiramisu :)"
