The old farmhouse, whose exterior consists of typical Tuscan bricks and stones, dates back many centuries. It has been completely restored by its actual owners fully respecting the original architecture, environmental materials, and its surroundings. The farmhouse was updated and restored with modern appliances but still keeps its old Tuscan atmosphere . Sovigliano is located near the village of Tavarnelle which boasts many restaurants, trattorias and cafes (and all the apartments have kitchen areas and the rooms share a fully furnished kitchen to prepare a great meal). There are lots of activities on offer nearby. Just in Tavarnelle is a balloon port where you can take a hot air balloon ride over the stunning Tuscan countryside. There’s also a spa with excellent treatments. You can do guided cycle tours, wine cellar tours, cooking and language courses in the local area. There are lots of craft centres worth visiting throughout the region. There are lots of hiking trails around our property and the countryside nearby with trekking maps. Tennis and horse riding nearby. We can help to arrange wine and cultural tours, transport services, and offer advice on things to do in the surrounding area. |

| Sovigliano is an easy distance from Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa & Lucca. If you arrive by plane, the closest airport is Florence but most airlines land in Pisa. Pisa is a one hour drive from Sovigliano. If you are travelling by train the preferable train station is Florence SMN. The public transport in the nearby area are quite good; there is a bus from Tavarnelle to Florence nearly every hour. If you like to go to Tavarnelle village on foot, it’s only a 15 minute walk. |

We offer accommodation in spacious double rooms and apartments to our guests. There are four self catering apartments and four double rooms for B&B. All apartments and rooms are well equipped and all rooms share a kitchen with fireplace, private refrigerators, a living room, and a dining room. There is a small library and some board games, as well as lots of information about Tuscany and the surrounding area. The inside of the Sovigliano, like the outside, still bears the features of an old typical Tuscan farmhouse. The rustic stucco lines the walls, and the magnificent tiles adorn the floors throughout. With its arches and old exposed wooden beams in the ceiling and its thick walls which keeps the temperature perfect both in summer and winter, Sovigliano still possesses all the characteristics of the old farmhouse it once was so many centuries ago. Laundry, phone and internet facilities available. Please note that TV, phone, fire and microwave are for everyone's use.

All guests at Sovigliano have access to our wonderful green garden which offers tables and chairs to sit and relax reading a book or just to admire a beautiful sunny day. Sovigliano offers a wonderful view of the Val d'Elsa valley and on a clear day you can even see the famous towers of San Gimignano. Guests also have the use of mountain bikes at their disposal for an even closer view . There is a swimming pool with a hydro-jet corner and wonderful views on the surrounding hills. A spacious furnished "loggia" is for everyone's use (outdoor eating area overlooking the hills and the vineyard). Exercise trail; bicycles, ping-pong and open-air games.

You can enjoy the products while you stay with us and also purchase them as gift items for friends and family for your return home. All of our products are produced in the traditional Tuscan manner and are of the highest value, and taste! As an alternative to the area's many restaurants and cooking, guests have the possibility to dine at Sovigliano trying our traditional (Casalinga) Tuscan cuisine prepared right here in the farmhouse using typical local products . Swimming pool is open from April to October. In summer time, we prefer weekly stay in the apartments. In the rooms breakfast is included. The apartments are self-catering, breakfast and dinner upon request.

Jason and I would love to say thank you for the wonderful stay. We all had such a spectacular time in Tuscany and have already decided to come back again and again.
I believe our favorite part of the trip, other than being married in Firenze, was your lovely countryside. The rolling hills covered with grape vines and olive trees is hard to describe to friends and family.
We also want to thank you for suggesting the lovely restaurants we ate at and arranging for the cooking class. Your hospitality was friendly, warm and very welcoming.

Many thanks again for a wonderful stay at SOvigliano - we wish we could have stayed longer. We so enjoyed the peacefulness, beautiful countryside, excellent food and your kind hospitality. We had a very nice time in Lucca and flew back to the UK yesterday - we arrived in cold wind and rain!!
