This beautiful medieval castle once guarded all the villages in the area. Built of mellow stone, it is set in a dominant position with exquisite views. The story goes that it was owned by the Ghibellines, who sided with the Roman Emperor in a battle against the Guelphs (who supported the Pope over the right to rule northern Italy). There are many legends about the manor castle which you will hear if you spend long enough talking to the locals in the nearby villages! If you're after something a little different to the more standard villa in Tuscany - then you've just found it! |

The Manor Castle sits on a hill and is surrounded by miles of woodland where you can enjoy long walks. The whole area is a patchwork of medieval hilltop villages which are all worth a visit. Lanciole, though tiny, has a bar/pizzeria which also sells a few basic foodstuffs. In ancient times the village was known to have produced "lancia" (spears) and other arms. The area makes a good base for touring being within easy driving distance of many famous places including Lucca, Pisa, Pistoia and Florence. For those wanting more activity, there is tennis, skiing, golf, horse riding, fishing and trekking nearby. The ski resort is only 40km and the sea only 45km. Florence and Pisa are both less than 50km from the castle. |

The Fairy cottage is on two floors (approx 80sqm in total) and is reached via a large terrace which has outstanding views over three medieval villages. Downstairs the sitting room has a Tuscan stone fireplace, terracotta ceiling and stone floor. One bedroom is also downstairs – this room looks out onto the pool and has an ensuite bathroom. The fully equipped kitchen is on the first floor, as well as a further double ensuite bedroom which looks out onto the garden and valley. Both bedrooms are in the small tower. There are beautiful beamed ceilings throughout and the furnishings are rustic and homely.

The castle has a large terraced grassy garden with fruit and olive trees and a 3000sqm park for your use. There is also a swimming pool (7.5mx4m) and a hot tub (suitable for up to 6 people). There is also a bbq on the terrace where you can enjoy al fresco evenings meals.

The Village where the Manor is located lies in the hills to the north of Pescia and Montecatini, a very picturesque area ideal for touring or relaxing in delightful surroundings. The Castle itself is perfectly restored, retaining the old characteristics but with all the comfort, so you will feel really at home. The main building can accommodate 8/9 people, but if you would like to rent all the three cottages, we can accommodate up to 12 people. Discount on the long terms rental.
