This beautiful medieval castle once guarded all the villages in the area. Built of mellow stone, it is set in a dominant position with exquisite views. The story goes that it was owned by the Ghibellines, who sided with the Roman Emperor in a battle against the Guelphs (who supported the Pope over the right to rule northern Italy). There are many legends about the manor castle which you will hear if you spend long enough talking to the locals in the nearby villages! If you're after something a little different to the more standard villa in Tuscany and you want to experience what it's like to rent a castle - then you've just found it! |

The Manor Castle sits on a hill and is surrounded by miles of woodland where you can enjoy long walks. The whole area is a patchwork of medieval hilltop villages which are all worth a visit. Lanciole, though tiny, has a bar/pizzeria which also sells a few basic foodstuffs. In ancient times the village was known to have produced "lancia" (spears) and other arms. The area makes a good base for touring being within easy driving distance of many famous places including Lucca, Pisa, Pistoia and Florence. For those wanting more activity, there is tennis, skiing, golf, horse riding, fishing and trekking nearby. The ski resort is only 40km and the sea only 45km. Florence and Pisa are both less than 50km from the castle. |

The Elf property is on two floors (110sqm) and is reached via a 200sqm stone terrace which has outstanding views over three medieval villages. Downstairs the sitting room has a traditional Tuscan fireplace, terracotta floor and stone walls, as well as a comfortable sofa bed. The adjacent country-style kitchen is fully equipped. The two large double bedrooms are upstairs, with a huge 12sqm bathroom in between them. The bathroom has an 1800 French bath and the window looks out onto the garden. The cottage is warmly and traditionally furnished throughout.

The castle has a large terraced grassy garden with fruit and olive trees and a 3000sqm park for your use. There is also a swimming pool (7.5mx4m) and a hot tub (suitable for up to 6 people). There is also bbq on your private terrace so you can enjoy al fresco evenings.

The Village where the Castle is located lies in the hills to the north of Pescia and Montecatini, a very picturesque area ideal for touring or relaxing in delightful surroundings. The Castle itself is perfectly restored, retaining the old characteristics but with all the comfort, so you will feel really at home. The main building can accommodate 8/9 people, but if you would like to rent all the cottages, we can accommodate up to 12 people at a discounted rate - and you can rent a castle in its entirety!
