The Lunigiana is the region to the extreme north of Tuscany, situated between Liguria and Emilia Romagna along the course of the river Magra and its affluents, but historically its borders are much wider. Characterised from beautiful hills, immense green meadows and high mountains, it is encircled by the Apennines and the Apuan Alps. It is a small region that offers a mild climate and a clear atmosphere, perfect for walking, relaxation and holidays. It is a magical unspoilt area free from tourist crowds. Tuscany's best kept secret, a landscape lost in time where medieval castles and villages perch high above green wooded valleys of chestnut, pine, olive and beech trees and numerous grape vines. |

Garfagnana is set in a wide valley, surrounded by the mountains of the Apennines, and the Apuan Alps. The area is totally un spoilt, and remains untouched by the tourism evident in other, perhaps better known, parts of Tuscany. The pace of life is very slow, and there are hundreds of hill top villages to explore, where it appears time has stood still since the days when most of the locals worked on the land. Try Barga, known for its restaurants and the beautiful ancient walled town of Lucca, the birthplace of Puccini. Florence is also accessible, as are Pisa, Siena or an hours drive down the autostrada to Parma and Modena. The coastal resorts of Forte dei Marmi, Viareggio, and Monterosso, set in the beautiful Cinque Terre are all accessible both by rail and car approximately 1 ½ hours away. There is a small shop for essentials, 5 mins walk into the village. For main shopping Aulla is a 30 minutes drive, also access to the autostrada. |

| A car is essential for access to this property. Driving times are Pisa airport 75 minutes, Parma airport 90 minutes Genoa airport 105 minutes. The cottage is situated on the border of Lunigiana/Garfagnana with easy access to Lucca, Pisa and the coast, Cinque Terre and Lerici. |

The cottage is situated in 4,000 square metres of private land and woodland with many fruit trees including apricot, kiwi, apple, sage, bay and established cypress trees. It has a pretty south facing terrace and gazebo for outside dining with barbeque. Sunbeds and beach towels are provided. The multi level gardens are mainly grassed with a patio area by the house.

The property is on a hill, accessed by steps, on a multi level site so is unsuitable for very small children, pushchairs/prams and guests who are not fully mobile.

Rental |
A non-refundable deposit of 10% of the holiday cost is required to confirm a booking within 6 months of booking date. The balance must be paid 6 weeks prior to arrival date. Cleaning prior to arrival, extra cleaning chargeable on request. Linen and towels included, changed weekly.
