General Info |
|
| |
Spannocchia is a magical place. It is a unique integration of historic architecture and landscape: a working organic farm, a center for education and enrichment focused on both ecological and cultural history, and a multinational community. Our activities strive to find balance between tradition and innovation. There is something to excite everyone at Spannocchia: hiking paths, farm animals, verdant gardens, cooking classes, beautiful vistas, eight centuries of rural history, a swimming pool, friendly people, great wine, and fantastic food. In addition, our proximity to tourism destinations including Florence, Siena, Chianti, San Gimignano, the Tuscan coastline, and many small hill towns makes Spannocchia the ideal base for exploring Tuscany. If you are looking for a vacation destination that is off the beaten path but still has a comfortable community environment, Spannocchia is the place for you! |

A spacious living room with a large fireplace and adjoining dining room opens into a smaller study perfect for poring over maps and planning day trips. The eat-in kitchen has a fantastic view of the Elsa river valley, and its proximity to the front door makes serving dinner on the arched loggia a breeze in the summer. There is also one bedroom and a one full bath with shower on the first floor. The second floor has two bedrooms, one with a lovely view of the Spannocchia property and one with a view of the Fattoria courtyard. A large bathroom with a full tub/shower looks out over the olive orchard below the house. A small utility nook upstairs holds the washing machine and cleaning supplies.

The beautiful vistas, delicious food and wine, along with the kind staff, all contribute to what a special place Spannocchia is. It was inspiring to stay in such a well-run sustainable farm. Its close proximity to the charming town of Siena and the Chianti region adds to the ambience that makes Toscana so special.

A green vacation destination on a working organic farm with spectacular food and amazing history. The views from the property are magnificent. Our kids loved the huge lawn (perfect for running around and chasing bugs), swimming pool, and the farm animals. We were all enamored with the onsite castle and nearby hiking trails through the forest. Guest accommodations are rustic but comfortable with kitchens and all you need. Located in the heart of Tuscany with easy access to everything from cities to parks to castles.
Chris J., California, USA, Jul 2008
