General Info |
|
| |
A Parino is a beautifully restored old olive mill in a peaceful setting close to the historic city of Lucca. The property offers not only a lovely private rural setting but also the convenience of being five minutes from the nearest village and 15 minutes from Lucca. The house is newly restored to a very high standard using authentic Tuscan materials including antique cotto floors and beamed ceilings. The interiors are elegantly furnished with antiques and classic wrought iron furniture, creating a very attractive rustic yet elegant style. Behind the house is a renovated guest apartment, which accommodates 4 guests. Perfect for those who want a little more privacy. The neighbouring Benedetti family care for the property and Michael is an expert English guide to point out the great things to do in the area. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
Lucca is a beautiful walled medieval city, which is the birthplace of Puccini. The city is mostly pedestrianised, which is fantastic for cycling and walking. Most guests enjoy cycling round the ramparts of the city wall. The countryside north of Lucca is breathtaking with many medieval villages perched on wooded hillsides. There are many beautiful palazzos and vineyards to visit in the area. Florence, Pisa and the beaches are all within a short distance. There are excellent restaurants, including a Michelin star, within 10 minutes of the house. The Tuscan ski resort of Abetone is only 1 hour away and has generally excellent snow from January to March. The immediate surroundings of the house are beautiful and most guests enjoy this most, whether for relaxation or exercise. There are lovely walks and circuits (between 2 - 6kms ) in the wooded hills around the property. Visit the ruined church on top of the hill. See the snow-capped Apuan Alps from the hillside opposite the house. |

What visitors have said about A Parino |
| |

A Parino was definitely more than we expected and more: the photos do not do justice to the whole property. Absolutely fabulous location. The children enjoyed roaming around, catching tadpoles in the stream and chasing fireflies. Excellent restaurants nearby. Lovely candlelit barbecues at home with local fresh produce. We will return!! Australian guests
A superb summer holiday. Thank you to Michael for all his expert advice on what to see and where to eat. We loved having breakfast on the terrace every morning, watching the sun appear from over the hills. Special thanks to Paolo and Alda for keeping the property and pool wonderfully clean and their friendly courtesy. English guests

Great place for a relaxing and uplifting holiday. Very comfortable house. Our friends stayed in the converted barn, which is very modern, and an easy 100m to the main house. We planned to go to Florence, Pisa and the beach but ended up hanging out in the house because it was so nice. We walked around the countryside and everyone was very friendly. On very hot days, we chilled in the pool. There is a fantastic restaurant - Antica Locanda - 2 minutes away, near Ponte a Moriano, which was excellent for beef and veal. We plan to return!

We had a wonderful family holiday last summer in A Parino. The property location is excellent...so rural...yet so close to Lucca and to great restaurants. Breakfast on the verandah was one of the highlights watching the sun rise over the hills in front. In the evenings the kids would run around catching fireflies. The house is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Our friends stayed in the newly restored barn, which is right behind the house. At the end of the stay, it felt like a real home. We had outstanding service from Michael, who lives a few kms away, and was able to give great advice on the local area: restaurants, trips to Pisa, Florence and the beaches, shopping and the many festivals in Lucca and Torre di Lago. Paolo and Alda live round the corner and did all the daily cleaning and pool maintenance. They were a lovely couple. Overall a wonderful, family holiday.
