The House of Camellia has been newly restored maintaining the original lava stonework and wood-beamed ceilings, adding high quality of fittings, traditional furniture and Caltagirone tiles in typical Sicilian style. The farmhouse offers a warm and cosy welcome, rural peace and sensational views of Etna. A perfect location from which to visit Taormina, M. Etna's Natural Park, and the excellent beaches nearby. It's also possible to go for walks on the property and the nearby countryside, enjoying the Sicilian sun and the stunning and peaceful setting. This lovely farmhouse is ideal for a couple, a family or a group of friends who want to sample rural Sicilian life, yet remain close to all the sights and comforts. The owners, who live in a villa nearby will be there to guarantee a warm welcome. |

For a bath in the blue Ionian sea, the nearest beach is at 4km (Praiola), and the long beautiful pebbly beach of Fondachello is at 10 km ; you can go swimming among lava rocks in Stazzo or Santa Tecla at 4 km.
If you love walking, discover the wonderful landscapes and paths of Etna's Natural Park. For food and wine lovers follow the "Road of Etna's wine" winding around the flanks of the volcano. Acireale, located between Catania and Taormina, has the reputation as having the most beautiful Carnival in Sicily. In summer don't miss Taormina-Arte festival when the Greek theatre comes to life ; discover the Gorges of Alcantara. Also Syracuse, the Baroque towns of the Noto valley, the Roman Villa of Piazza Armerina, Messina, the Eolian Islands are all comfortably reachable for a day trip. "Il Picciolo" Golf Club is at 35 min drive away, on M.Etna - 18 holes and a smoking volcano as a backdrop! |

Getting There:
| Catania airport 35km. Palermo airport 2 and a half hours drive. Car hire is essential. Between Catania and Taormina, the farmhouse is easy to reach, being at 3 km from the motorway exit Giarre and at 1km from the main national road 114. The owners will meet you at the motorway exit "Giarre" to avoid any problems in finding the house. Cinzia speaks English. |

There is one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, and double sofa bed in the living room. Both bedrooms open out onto the terrace. The bathroom, (with shower) is decorated with typical Sicilian Caltagirone tiles. The kitchen is bright and spacious, decorated with Caltagirone tiles and plates, in the traditional Sicilian style. The table is extendable. There's a fridge with freezer, microwave oven, electric kettle, cooker, washing machine and all the equipment. The living room is comfortable and well equipped. The farmhouse is furnished to a high standard and very well equipped with traditional wooden furniture. In winter there are electric heaters in every room. Note that the thickness of the walls means that, like most traditional Sicilian houses, the House of Camellia is cool inside even with hot temperatures outside.

A few steps from the terrace take you up to the little roof terrace, offering views of the mountain, groves and out to sea. The terrace has a patio with shade, outdoor furniture and a barbecue. The surrounding countryside and the grounds all around are just waiting to be explored, with lemon trees, olives, oranges, mandarin, figs and all the rich Mediterranean vegetation.

What about a glass of wine produced in our estate admiring M.Etna, the groves all around and the sea from the little terrace on the roof of the house? Or reading a book in the shade of the hundred-year-old camellia tree in the peace of the country? Or sunbathing to feel the warmth of sun even in winter? Do you fancy shopping or having dinner in a little restaurant on the coast? Within a few minutes` drive in Giarre and Acireale (5 and 7 km) you can find many shops of all kinds, as well as restaurants, cafes and pizzerias. The nearest grocery shops are at 1km in the village of Mangano, and there is a big shopping centre 3km away.

Conditions of Rental |
Prices are for the property per week in euros. No extra charges of any kind. For groups of 6-7 persons : 80 euros more per week. Breakages deposit of 100 euros fully refunded on departure assuming no damage or breakages have occurred. From January to 4th April there is an extra 30 euro charge for heating. The changeover day is Saturday usually but it can be arranged differently in some periods. 30% deposit to secure the booking by PayPal or bank transfer and balance paid in cash upon arrival.
Minimum stay: 3 nights in low season, a week in high season.

The House of the Camelias is ideally placed to visit Etna, Taormina, Syracuse and much of Eastern Sicily. The traditional house is full of charm whilst being well equipt and beautifully maintained by the owners.From the generous terrace amonst the lemon trees there is a tranquil view of the surrounding countryside whilst from the roof terrace there is a splendid view of Etna in one direction and a distant sea view in the other direction. The owners make you very welcome and their care, knowledge of the area and generosity ensure you have a very special stay.

"Un séjour des plus agréables...L'accueil de Nunzio et Cinzia a été exceptionnel...Par leur présence discrète mais si gentille ,par leurs conseils de visites et balades, par les paniers offerts (on a encore le goût des fruits et légumes du jardin de Nunzio!!) nos hôtes ont contribué à faire de ce séjour un moment inoubliable...La maison est splendide... aménagée avec beaucoup de goût, et tout est prévu pour une semaine sans souci...Le jardin est très beau avec tous les citronniers (jus à volonté!!!) et la terrasse très agréable quand il fait très chaud! et la vue sur l'etna en éruption etait très belle! Une étape à ne pas manquer pour un séjour en sicile. La maison très au calme est cependant très facile d'accès depuis l'autoroute...sortie Giarré...et nous a permis de bien visiter toute la côte est de la sicile, l'intérieur du pays et de faire des balades très surprenantes sur l'Etna! Une adresse que nous recommandons bien sûr pour tous ceux qui recherchent un séjour authentique , au calme de la nature! Merci encore à nos hôtes! Nicole et Eric R et leurs filles"

"A lovely country house, renovated with taste, in a peaceful neighborhood while just minutes away from the highway. Exceptional and charming hosts. In a few words, a delightful stay I warmly recommend. Une charmante petite maison de campagne, rénovée avec beaucoup de gout. Bien qu’à quelques minutes de l’autoroute, la maison est au calme, au milieu de plantations d’agrumes. Les hôtes sont exceptionnellement charmants. "Nunzio and Cinzia's restored 2 bedroom farmhouse lived up to our expectations completely. They have spent a lot of time, money and effort restoring the old family farm house, using good quality fixtures and fittings as well as furniture. The house is decorated in the traditional classic Sicilian style and all done in very good taste. Situated inside it's own plot of land with a small driveway and illuminated path to the front entrance, the house is surrounded by lemon trees and a fig tree,( the fresh figs are delicious for breakfast). From the roof of the house there is nice view of Mount Etna and the surrounding lemon trees that cover the land. The house is 25 minutes drive from Toarmina and an hour from Syracuse. It is very easy to access the motorway at Giarre. I would suggest this house would be ideal for a family of four or a couple who want to get away from it all. We very much enjoyed our peace and quiet in the evenings and our BBQ's. Nuncio and Cinzia are wonderful relaxed, friendly, country people, they did everthing they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible and we were genuinely sad to say goodbye. I cannot recommend staying here enough!"
