Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |

The Ionian Sea is 40 minutes away and there is a selection of different beaches on the Adriatic shores, in close proximity to Villa Silvana's apartments. Most of these beaches have a selection of sea-lapping shore-side trattorias and cafés. There is an abundance of delightful towns nearby, which all have an authentic Italian feel with year-round street fiestas, weekly market days and charming old centres dating back hundreds of years. A short way down the hill is Fasano, a beautiful, ancient town which was subject to the Knights of Malta for many years. The hills are a naturally wooded area, rich in oak trees and perfect for stunning country walks. Drive a few kilometres into this area and you will find the towns of Ostuni, Martina Franca, Cisternino, Locorotondo, and Alberobello. Also nearby is the zoo-safari, Fasanolandia. There are many markets in the surrounding villages that we can recommend. |

Exterior Details |
Guests can enjoy tranquillity and privacy in their own outside living, dining and barbeque area with panoramic views. The jewel in the crown of these apartments is its grounds, offering a feast of perfumes and colours; the swimming pool is completely secluded but still has wonderful views. Both the pool and gardens have been designed to blend sympathetically with the land and are planted in typical Puglian style - wild and natural rather than formerly landscaped. Surprisingly, even the noonday sun is never too much because of the fantastic hilltop position. The heat is always tempered by the gentle winds whispering in over the Atlantic, allowing you to laze under the umbrellas all day long. A mural, based on Puglian landscapes and designed and painted by the artist Sam Oyelowo, stands proud and striking, enhancing the jutting rock that bears the weight of the beautiful apartments above.

Further Details |
If you are a lover of long leisurely lunches and relaxing dinners where the wine flows, the food just keeps coming and the bill is surprisingly cheap then you'll be glad to know that the eateries in Puglia are not only incredibly reasonable, but are well renowned for the freshness and taste of their fare. Food, both its preparation and consumption, is a focal point of Italian life, so every meal is a delight and we can recommend some fantastic restaurants, some within walking distance. Villa Silvana is in a prime location, whether you’re looking for nightlife, shopping or sightseeing. There are many markets in the surrounding villages that we can recommend: Fasano, Ostuni and Martina Franca all have antiques markets (on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sundays of the month respectively). Martina Franca also hosts the Itria valley festival in July-August which attracts music lovers from all over the world with its theatres and concerts, and in the streets of Cisternino there is live music during August. The famous Trulli, with their intrinsic beauty, have captured the hearts and souls of many - Alberobello is only a short drive away. If you want to enjoy delicious meals in the comfort of your apartment, without the mess and hassle, why not treat yourself to a private chef? Let Villa Silvana’s chef take care of the culinary details while you relax and enjoy your vacation. The quality, preparation and presentation of the food are excellent and Chef Semeraro provides a wonderful variety of fresh, local and organic Puglian cuisine. For €35 a head you can enjoy a 5 course meal with Antipasti, Primi, Secondi, Contorni and heavenly Dolci along with fresh hot bread and a distinctive local wine. We can supply everything you need for your children and we also provide wireless internet access, binoculars, fishing equipment, cool boxes, wind breakers, beach umbrellas and beach mats. A weekly maid service is available for an extra charge of £30ph. We can also arrange for a local beautician to come and pamper you – how about a pedicure by the pool?

What visitors have said about Villa Silvana |
| |
| |
This was our first visit to Puglia although we have spent many happy holidays in Italy and Sicily. We found that Villa Silvana lived up to the description on the internet, regarding location, layout and facilities. Our apartment was spotlessly clean, in good condition and tastefully decorated and furnished. The owners were always there to help if we needed them and had left a really useful manual on the local area for us. As this is a self catering holiday, we found the village shop useful for basics and there is a really good supermarket a short drive away, and a pizzeria. For eating out in the evening we drove to a local restaurant or drove about fifteen minutes to the beautiful hilltop town of Locorotundo. There are some lovely historic coastal towns and good beaches about 10-15km away and the roads are good.
The villa is set on a mountain side surrounded by greenery and winding roads bordered by grey stone walls with views of well tended fields. If we ate at the villa, we used the barbecue and could sit on our terrace looking across the plain down to the sea in the distance. The swimming pool is large, with umbrellas, sun beds and natural shade from the trees. The views whilst sitting here are breathtaking, and other than horses conversing across the valley, there was little to disturb the peace. There are several steps down to the pool terrace, so small children would need supervising and access to the pool may not suit people who have poor mobility.
Villa Silvana is a good base for visiting surrounding historic areas and beaches. The larger towns have good shops, restaurants and ancient buildings which are well worth visiting. The fish restaurants we visited here were second to none. We think a car is really necessary if staying in Villa Silvana, though we did not check out public transport. The local people are very friendly and helpful despite the language barriers and we alway felt safe and relaxed in the places we visited. Puglia has a charm and unspoilt character which is refreshing. We saw many young people, young families and the more mature, enjoying their own experience of Puglia which is also popular with Northern Italians. Villa Silvana would not suit people who want beaches, music and nightclubs within walking distance. However, this was our ideal holiday. We enjoyed our stay so much we have booked to stay in Villa Silvana in 2009. What better recommendation!!!!

Thank you for making us feel welcome at Villa Silvana, the apartment is exactly what we needed and the amenities were more luxurious than we could ever want, with a lovely pool and stunning views to top it off.

Villa Silvana is by far the best equipped villa we have ever stayed in. The owners are friendly and helpful but also ensure your privacy. Sogni Di Favola was ideal for us and our 2 young children. The pool is lovely and the terrace area outside the apartment has breath taking views with as much space as you would need. Highlights for us were the local meal delivered to us at the villa cooked by a local chef, great value for money, delicious local food and so much of it! Night time visits to Locorotondo and Martina Franca are a must. Large selection of DVDs kept the kids happy while we enjoyed excellent local wine on our terrace. If you are looking for relaxation and appreciate authentic Italian holidays then this is the place for you.

Thank you so much for a fantastic holiday. My partner and I so needed a break and we were ecstatic when we found your apartment. Not only were the views breathtaking, the weather amazing but the apartment was gorgeous, peaceful and I could tell looked after and loved. I also loved having an almost private pool and being able to sit up on the terrace with a bottle of wine and looking out at the mountains and view of the sea. It was really just what we needed! I will definitely be back and have already told my friends about you.

Lovely, spacious and private outside area. Fantastic views to the sea. A good large pool, great to cool off after a day sight seeing.

Thank you for your lovely welcome and help during our stay at your lovely apartment.
We have travelled widely in the UK, Europe and the US and always stay in apartments..we enjoy the flexibility it gives. However, we have found that standards vary widely; and it is difficult to be really sure until you arrive.
Your apartment was the best equipped we have been to; plus having the towels, bathrobes, toiletries and hairdryer to name but a few really helps with the baggage allowance! The other thing about your apartment was the pool, what a super size, again the best we have been to! And our terrace was the icing on the cake!
The area itself was as you describe, for people who like to get away from it and would rather struggle through with basic Italian and a smile! We found the local people extremely patient and pleasant.
Other nice memories; the evening at Fasano, the amazing lights and atmosphere; thank you for guiding us in the right direction. Going to Cisterno on Sunday and going to the little Dono Doliva shop to buy lovely oil; the shop was so simple and elegant. Lying on the beach at Lido Bosco Verde with hardly another soul, buying fresh fish at Savilletere..could go on and on.
