  General Info
The trulli is set into a hillside to give views over rolling countryside. Very private (one other trullo owned by the same owner is the only building within a mile), yet near all facilities. In the centre of Puglia is a small area, just 20 miles by 10, which contains buildings known as "trulli". These exist nowhere else in the world, and there are thought to be less than 5000 of them. Trulli are round stone cones, originally made without cement, which may or may not be attached to buildings. They relied on a stone "plug" at the top of the cone to support the tension of the cone. Pull the plug, and the cone imploded. This was done whenever Federal government tax inspectors appeared to levy taxes on buildings. All they would find was a pile of rubble that was miraculously restored to a trulli as soon as they had passed!

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation
Puglia is famous for its food, its beauty and its history. The far south of Italy has long summers for enjoying the fresh produce at wonderful markets and restaurants that cost far less than even northern Italy or elsewhere. Every hilltop town has a medieval area that has been untouched for centuries with magnificent churches and paintings. Puglia is on two seas with dozens of uncrowded long beaches, usually only with Italians in them. It's where the Italians go on holiday for slow, lazy days.

There are large numbers of domestic flights from Rome & Milan. There is an excellent motorway within 30 minutes of the trullo and fast express Italian trains to Bari.

It is unique in its position and views. It is a five minute drive into Alberobello, about 5km away. Alberobello itself is a fascinating town, its centre consisting entirely of trulli. The population is only 7,000, so there are just a couple of main streets. That's enough to provide a supermarket, a couple of dozen restaurants, some wonderful traditional Puglian delicatessen shops and it's easy to get in and out of.
