General Info |
|
| |
Casa delle Damigiane has been completely restored in 2002 and great care has been taken to perserve its "old" charm, with today's comforts. Its name comes from the Latin ‘Apricus’ meaning exposed to the sun. It is a labyrinth of cobbled narrow partly covered over streets and steps and is for pedestrians only (apart from a little 3 wheeler "Ape" which is used for luggage transport on request and supplies for shops and restaurants). There are lots of murals to keep you company as you wonder through the "carugi" until you get to the beautiful piazza where in summer you can enjoy a cappuccino, spumante , or "all fresco" dining and take in your amazing surroundings. |

Getting There:
| Many of the budget airlines fly into either Nice airport, only 1 hr. away, or Genoa, a little further, a 2 1/2 hrs drive.
Ventimiglia train station is a 15 min. drive. There are a few buses a day running from the station to Apricale.
It is not absolutely neccesary to hire a car, but we think that you get a lot more out of your visit if you do have your own transport, especially your first visit. |

Interior Details |
Casa delle damigiane was restored in 2002. During its restoration the owners found 65 empty ‘damigiane’ (demijohn wine containers), hence the name! All the ceilings are vaulted and there is an undisturbed panoramic view over the valley, the river, the old olive mill and a little roman bridge. From the balcony breakfast table you can enjoy all of this. There is a double bedroom and a double sofa bed in the living room, and one bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped and the living room has a comfortable seating area, dining table for 8, satellite TV, DVD, Hifi and great views over the valley! There is a ‘middle’ room with a daybed which can be used as a single bed. There is also central heating for anyone staying in the cooler months.
