One of the most beautiful old houses in the area with domed brick ceilings and terracotta floors. It has been lovingly restored and furnished to a high standard to create a peaceful hideaway in the Abruzzo hills. The land is bordered by a small stream and farmland stretches in all directions. A wide variety of vegetables and fruit are grown on the farm and you can help yourself. The farmhouse has views of two medieval villages and the Gran Sasso range. It has full central heating and open log fires on both floors and is a great base for exploring Abruzzo in any season. |

Casa Cichella is 2km outside Montefino where you can find two bars, one of which serves food if you book the day before. There is a baker, butcher, mini-market and fresh pasta maker in the village. Within 15 minutes drive there are many restaurants, supermarkets, a marvellous winery selling exceptional local wine, large butchers and two fresh fruit and vegetable shops. The medieval cities of Penne and Atri are 20 minutes away where regular markets and a wider variety of shops are available. Abruzzo boasts 133km of beaches and most of these are sandy. Teramo province has 7 blue ribbon resorts that are all in easy reach of Montefino, the nearest is 27km. There are also two golf courses within one hour's drive away. The house is also less than an hour's drive from the cross country ski tracks at Campo Imperatore & 90 minutes from a choice of ski resorts. |

| The nearest airport is Pescara at 40km. Ryanair have a daily service in the summer. It is an easy drive to Rome (2 hours) or Ancona (2 hours) for further flight options. Ferries run from both Pescara and Ancona to Croatia. |

Casa Cichella is furnished as a home away from home. The furniture is simple, elegant and comfortable. The kitchen layout was designed by a professional chef and has everything you need to cater for a full dinner party. The two double bedrooms are large and private with no extra beds crammed in. The large separate kitchen, lounge and dining room give plenty of space to socialise and to find private space for the whole party. The lounge has double doors opening onto the South terrace and is the perfect retreat from the midday sun. The master bedroom is a beautiful room with views of the Maiella Mountains to the South and green hills to the East. Bedroom two has views of Gran Sasso in one direction and a large balcony overlooking the hills in the other. It has a huge open fireplace and exposed beams, as well as an ensuite. Bedroom three is at the centre of the house and has bunk beds – the perfect room for the children!

Outside the large, arched kitchen door there is an eating area beneath an ancient olive tree, an open air lounge under a gazebo and a shaded barbecue kitchen with tiled work surfaces and a sink to enable you to prepare gourmet feasts. On the South side of the house there is a sun trap overlooking the neighbouring hills and to the East there is another patio that is perfect for breakfast in the sun. The house has a partially fenced, large and private garden. You can enjoy an early morning walk across the fields to collect fresh bread from the village or a picnic under the olives in the heat of the day or just a stroll to the farm’s vegetable plot to pick tomatoes.
Alternatively you can laze by the pool summoning up the energy to open a bottle of wine and light the barbecue once the sun goes down.

If you want to make your holiday very special we can offer a variety of additional services to enable every member of your party to totally relax for every minute of your stay. This can include a professional chef to prepare exceptional food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. A fully qualified and highly experienced British nanny or a qualified British Doula (contact us for the website link). A full daily maid service. A driver and luxury people mover who will transfer you to and from the airport and then be available each day to take you around the region. Or, for the complete break we offer a package including a vacation organiser who will manage every element of your stay. These staff stay in another property nearby and thereby maintain your privacy. If you are interested in these options please contact us to discuss your requirements. We also offer short or long courses in digital photography and photo processing using Adobe Photoshop™ or Adobe Photoshop Elements™. We will take you to a different location each day to capture images and then work together back at base to edit those photographs and learn how to edit and improve them and to then produce high quality prints, photo DVDs or web photos. This option is available for between 1 and 5 days.

Linen and towels are included, as are cleaning of the pool and the house before and after your stay. Gas, electricity, water and a welcome food pack also included. In winter there is an initial supply of logs provided and gas is charged on an as used basis.

Wow ! Fabulous house, it never felt crowded with 6 of us in it; great kitchen, loved the ceilings, loved the grounds.
Fabulous area. For our first trip to Italy it was good to see the real Italy, all helped by your incredible "Blue Folder". Santo Stephano and Bisenti - could have wandered all day; Pescara and Pineto - lovely beaches; Montefino and Castiglione - fab ! The high light was driving onto the Campo Imperatore plateau under a completely clear blue sky and snowy mountains and then getting to the top and having a snow ball fight.
You made us feel so welcome and the little insights into the area were invaluable.
We will be back.

A stunningly beautiful place and a wonderful house with great attention to detail. We have enjoyed our stay here tremendously. The days have simply flown by ! Thank you for your hospitality and warm welcome.
This is a different area of Italy, which we have only just discovered but intend to return to soon. The people are friendly and kind and it has encouraged us to enrol in Italian language lessons.
Campo Imperatore is amazing ! Certainly worth a visit.
Atri theatre has concerts and opera - really good quality.

Great house, great pool, fabulous scenery, great hosts. With 3 teenagers in the scorching heat it was no hardship to spend a lot of time in the pool. The mountain villages are wonderful, all set on tops of hills with fabulous views, fantastic architecture and narrow streets.
The “Blue Folder” is the best information pack we’ve ever seen. Your knowledge of the area is impressive. We will come back one spring for the walking & wild flowers.

We have just spent an amazing month here at Casa Cichella.
Beautiful weather, perfect location and a great house that catered to every wish.
We loved picking the tomatoes fresh from the vegetable patch and eating them with home grown olive oil and salt.
We really enjoyed meeting all the locals at La Cantina in Montefino and picking our fruit from the fruit and veg man.. We thought the coffees at Bageria were delicious.
We shall miss the sound of the church bells, the owls and the crickets and the bus as it hoots around the corner.
Thanks again for an amazing holiday.

I cannot tell you how pleased I was that Casa Cichella was not only all that it appeared to be from the website but much more. Thank you a thousand times for a splendidly memorable holiday for us and our friends from California. We enjoyed every minute of exploring Casa Cichella, Abruzzo and Rome.
The house has it all; rustic charm, breathtaking scenery and all the conveniences. The “Blue Folder” led us to Maria “the Pasta Lady” and “La Nuvola” where we discovered the wonderful cuisine and hospitality of Abruzzo. Thank you for all the well thought out suggestions.
Casa Cichella offered a warm retreat. the wonderful vino rossa of the region helped as well.

We, a family of 4 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs, fell instantly in love with the house, its garden and the pool.
The area is unique and the food is just a dream. Very delicious ! Good quality to a reasonable price.
We loved the house and the “Blue Folder”, a super job.
Both dogs were welcome, which is not that usual. You were marvelous hosts and this place can be truly recommended !
