Both Derrynane Harbour and Derrynane Bay have fantastic beaches, and there are watersports, diving and fishing centres in the harbour. The local pub, Keating's Bar, is a fifteen minute walk from the house, over the Mass Path. Also within walking distance of Iskeroon is the Derrynane National Park which has wonderful gardens. Boats to The Skellig Rocks (World Heritage site) leave from Bunavalla Pier, 5 minutes walk away. A number of wonderful gardens nearby are open to the public, including Derrynane House, Glanleam on Valentia Island and Garnish Island in Glengarrif. Five miles away in the car (or three miles by foot) is the village of Caherdaniel. Here there are two good pubs, and a restaurant. The Kerry Way passes through the village, beside an ancient ring fort. Seven miles way is Waterville, famous for its golf links and salmon and trout fishing. There are four golf courses within an hour's drive from Iskeroon. |

Guests have access to the 4.5 acre semi-tropical garden and the private pier at the bottom of the garden. A rowing dinghy and a kayak are also available for guests to use. Further Details |
Iskeroon’s position on the Ring of Kerry also makes it the perfect base from which to explore the Ring itself, the Skellig Rocks, the Ballaghbeema Pass, Valentia Island, the Beara Peninsula, the lakes, mountains and National Park around Killarney and the Dingle Peninsula, all easily reachable within a day. As always, the best places to see in Kerry are those off the beaten track, unseen and unknown by most visitors. We are delighted to advise you on the best places to see and things to do and also to advise you on how to avoid the coaches that drive (anti-clockwise) around the Ring. (Some guidebooks make an unnecessarily big deal out of these coaches – with some local knowledge, you will hardly notice them.) The beauty of Iskeroon is that you can do as much, or as little, as you like. If total relaxation and privacy is what you want, you’ll find it here. We take it as a great compliment that many people get engaged at Iskeroon, and come here on honeymoon.

What visitors have said about Iskeroon |
| |
| |
There's no finer setting in Ireland than that of Iskeroon, a beach-house chic B&B near Caherdaniel, set amid four acres of rambling subtropical gardens on the Ring of Kerry's tranquil Derrynane Harbour. Indoors, the palette is bold and warm; outside, the rugged coast gives on to wide, deserted crescents of sand.
Conde Nast Traveller, UK, Jan 2010

Iskeroon is a marvelous house, a true design icon. Built by
the Earl of Dunraven in the 1930s, its unique, mesmerizing design is exceeded only by its astonishing location.
Bridgestone 100 Best Places to Stay in Ireland, UK, Aug 2009
|
David and Geraldine Hare's wonderfully light B&B has an arrestingly beautiful setting overlooking Derrynane Harbour. It's got the best of both worlds: tranquil and yet just a short walk to the beach or a lovely pub, or the pier for cruises to the Skelligs. Breakfasts are excellent here, too. With only three rooms, this place gets sold out long in advance, so book early.
The Washington Post, USA, Mar 2010

We are so happy that we travelled further than planned yesterday to find you at the end of the lane. Your warmth and hospitality were greatly appreciated.
Martha & Bob, Chicago, Mar 2010

The first place that actually deserves the description magical.
Ewan & Jenny, UK, Apr 2010

Much enjoyed our three days here. The description, though encouraging, did not quite lead us to expect the magnificence of the situation, the beauty of the views, the comfort and 'le style' of the house, the way you welcomed and fed us.
