Aegina, the closest island to Athens, is very traditional and has Greek tavernas and seafood restaurants aplenty. It is a wonderful place for cycling around and the Temple of Aphaia is particularly worth a visit.

Hydra is the best choice for holiday rentals if you’re looking for variety. By day it is unspoiled and dotted with ambling donkeys, and no cars are allowed on the island to ruin its natural peace and beauty. Then by night the town comes alive and from cafes on the waterfront to late night bars, this is jetsetter paradise. If you want a small island with sandy beaches and an agricultural lifestyle then Angistri holiday rentals are a good choice. On the other hand if you want excellent restaurants, water sports and a buzzing nightlife, all within a stone’s throw of Athens and the mainland then maybe Poros is the island for you.
