Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation
Levendis rests in a valley with its back to a mountain, and overlooking a wide bay. Small traditional seaside villages are within 3 km. Ithaca is a mountainous, wooded island which has escaped mass tourism. Ithaca combines its history, religious tradition, culture and its seafaring and agricultural way of life - unchanged for generations - with a geographic beauty that captures the most widely travelled visitor. With its many mountain pathways linking historical villages and shores dotted with small white jewelled beaches, it offers a destination which you will find difficult to leave and compelled to return to. The village of Stavros is 2 km from Levendi's and is the central village of northern Ithaca. About 1 kilometre north of Stavros is Pelicata; a small Bronze Age settlement. Kioni and Frikes on the northeast coast are both typical unspoilt Ionian villages with many small tavernas along their sea fronts.

What visitors have said about Levendi`s Estate

What a wonderful family holiday - three cheers for the internet. We've been wanting to come here for 3 years and it's been a joy. Thanks you for making everything so easy and achievable for us. Massages a true highlight and we're all sad to leave.
Susie and Adam, Louis (5) Isobel (2) & Hal (9 mths,  UK

Our fourth time at Levendis and it won't be the last. This time Ben is 5 and we've brought our 19-month old twin 'Levendis' girls. We have loved the warmer weather of August - pool and sea have been gorgeous and everyone has loved swimming each day. We have loved seeing Mal, Spero, Kate and Naki and of course how the most handsome Frank has grown, Farewell Levendis...........for now.
Mark and Tanya,  Somerset, UK

Amazing how the Earth reflects the energy of the moon....happy to be here on this very special evening. Thank you for allowing us to share this land for a while. Like so many souls before us we are amazed and inspired at the truth and simplicity of life here. The time we spent here will be always very special to us
Petra and Chris, Vinnie (5) and Eddie (2),  London

This is a truly beautiful place which lives up to its profile. Whether you stay on the estate, visit the villages and beaches, or scramble over the Mycenaean ruins, its wonderful. September is a perfect time to go with cooler temperatures and the island is very quiet. Especially good for amateur Classicists who'd like to get close to some 3000+ year old history. Fantastic hosts & Greece's troubles are very distant too.
Gerard and Julie, Melbourne,  Melbourne

A magical introduction to the Greek islands, the island is a joy to explore even the hair-raising high roads, finding little beaches with no-one else on them (yes it's early July!) enjoying the warm clear waters, we've spent many hours too just staring out at the wonderful and ever changing view from Levendis, hoping we can return soon
Duncan and Connie,  England

The holiday started badly. For the first three days it seemed we were trapped on Kefallonia at the mercy of a chaotic and sometimes aggressive hotel staff. And then we stumbled upon Levendis on the internet. Suddenly we were on a ferry to beautiful, sleepy Ithaca. Things were looking up. Fresh breakfasts, babysitting services, a beautiful pool, boat trips, all no hassle. Fate had taken us to The Right Place. Thank you for a wonderful, special and all too brief holiday. With love
Herbie and Poly,  Grand Cayman

After years gazing at the website, tucked away in my 'favourites' this year we finally chose to make the journey to Levendis seeking 'a village holiday'. This is exactly what we've had and we leave feeling restored after an idyllic stay. Such a beautiful spot, run with love and care. The physical environment feeding all our senses and the tastes of all the delicious foods are perfectly matched. We slowed down immediately to a pace that resulted in more miles walked than driven, more lunches chez Levendis than out. Moonlit walks up the hill to marvel at sunrise and lulled to sleep by the waves, goat bells and church bells. We intend to return, and to pass on the Levendis experience to many of our friends in Australia.
Neil and Melanie,  Sydney

The abiding memory will be that you made us feel, from even before we arrived, like old friends rather than paying guests. Thank you a million times for such a wonderful holiday. Now that we are home it does seem like a dream, though we have the photos to prove it real. We really did have a perfect time and I can still taste the fresh breakfasts and see the view from our loungeroom window. It was the perfect place to holiday with two small children, nothing to worry about at all - you wouldn't believe how many people said that we were very brave heading off to Greece with a baby and toddler, but they clearly had never been to Levendis! See you all again
Alastair and Liz,  UK

It would be wrong to say that Levendis lived up to expectations - it blew them away! - the tranquility, views, welcome, pool, breakfasts, and the list could go on. Friendly child care meant we could go out in the evenings. Worth hiring a boat for a day, and if you enjoy snorkelling take the marine exploration day out. We'll certainly be back as we've never been on a holiday where we've relaxed so quickly
Graeme, Helen, Amelia (4) and Bump,  UK

Words cannot describe this paradise, thank you for making the first two weeks of our lives together so very special.
Carl and Kath,  UK

From our verandah, we watched the dolphins playing in the bay below our house, we've explored the island and taken every little track and road, found perfect deserted beaches, taken picnics and hired a motor boat, tried the village tavernas by day, and enjoyed the experience of walking to the taverna at the end of the track in the evenings, taking advantage of wonderful child care. We leave early tomorrow and so we should have an early night but, having seen dolphins playing in the bay just now, we'd rather sit here a while longer and appreciate this wonderful island, this beautiful place, and what a fantastic honeymoon this has been.
Gareth and Katherine Vaughan-Davies and Eleni (4),  UK

Using the chaise lounges on our lawn as base, we've sauntered to the coffee shop for grand breakfasts and a chat, collected fresh vegies, bread and more books, back to the loungesthe books in hand, into the house for food, an afternoon siesta, out to the village for long evenings of dining and watching the island life, back home to be lulled to sleep by the sound of waves below and waking to goat bells and the sun rising............only to repeat the procedure 14 times. Sublime holiday, what can I say? See you same time next year.
George and Helen,  UK

April is to be recommended, gardens stunning, everything just waking from winter, the pace is perfect for winding down. We’ve done bike rides, a day in a boat, pottered about sleepy villages. Breakfast without parents is the height of holiday glamour and excitement, plus racing around the fantastic grounds, inventing wild games. Thank goodness Marilyn and Spero are such peaceful souls.
Nigel Bardon,  UK

You could bottle the water and retire, knowing you’ve exported the finest liquid in the world, simply life-enhancing, particularly when taken along with the finest honey on the planet, also camomile, ouzo and retsina seem to have a marvellous combined glowing effect. We’re being beckoned back before we leave.
Barden Dolce Collective,  UK

Levendis strips away the frantic pace of city life and you can only kick back and relax here overlooking the bay. We’re going home recharged, having had a wonderful time with our children (4 and 5). Completely brilliant child care service so we enjoyed time off and so did our children! Our hosts are fantastic, you can ask for any ideas or help and they are happy and so chilled, it makes for a wonderful summer holiday for us all.
Catherine,  UK

'Are you sure you want to come with us? (Molly 16 and Jessica 18) It's going to be really quiet, no clubbing, no TV, no facebook, I don't want two grumpy teenagers spoiling our two weeks.' In between snorkeling, swimming, boating, sunbathing, eating and drinking they read and read and expanded their horizons, thanks to Mal's enlightening library.......My 'no clubbing' was incorrect, there's the fun of Big Wednesday in Frikes each week. Jon managed to turn off his 'crackberry' most of the time, and me? Well how could I not have a wonderful time? Massage and pilates in the most gorgeous setting, Mal's lovely lotions and potions, brilliant food, fun breakfast chats, I've loved it all and will really miss you all. Trish, England, August 2010
Trish,  UK

Two weeks ago our driver told us, as we came here, that we were going to Paradise and he was right! the cosy house, the extraordinary view, the unique pool and the beautiful green garden all make Levendis a glowing jewel of this tiny island. Spero and Mal are so kind and helpful, Levendis' chef made us delicious meals, local café just down the road has delicious food and the service is quick and very good. Frikes village is charming and the the monastery in the mountains has amazing frescoes. Make sure you wake up on time in the mornings not to risk missing the king's feeding time - Frank The-Goat is waiting for you, and for the almonds! (PS: Our favourite things were feeding Frank and having walks in the forest, Francesco and Vittoria)
