The village of Callas (featured in the June 2007 Conde Nast Traveller magazine) is just ten minutes walk from Moulin Niras. A typical ancient hilltop village, Callas has all of the essentials, including a baker, a butcher, a cafe/bar, a post office, a grocer, a wine shop and a couple of restaurants. The village hosts a small market on Saturday mornings. There is a larger regional market every Sunday at Le Muy, 15 kilometres away. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
The spectacular scenery of the Gorges du Verdon, a great canyon cut by the Verdon river, is 50 kilometres from Moulin Niras. The glamorous and exciting towns of the French Riviera, such as Cannes, Nice, and St Tropez, along with other luxurious villas in Provence, are thirty to sixty minutes drive from the house. Also within an easy drive are Marseilles, famous for its 18th century port area and its excellent seafood restaurants, and the fascinating historical city of Aix-en-Provence, founded by the Romans as a spa town and an important cultural and political centre during the Middle Ages, and a great many vineyards, which welcome visitors for wine-tasting sessions. Near to Callas are its sister villages of Bargemon and Seillans, both famous for their village life and architecture. Le Muy also has the excellent golf course of St Endreol. Tennis is available 3km away, and the surrounding countryside has excellent tracks for mountain biking and hiking. |

Getting There:
| The property is very well placed for a number of airports including Cannes, Nice and Marseille. Getting to villas in Provence doesn't tend to be a problem, although we would recommend a hire car for this one so you can enjoy the surrounding area to the full. |

Interior Details |
French double doors lead from the terrace and garden into the very large grand salon, originally the main part of the old mill. Large cream sofas surround a central stone fireplace. The dining area with its solid oak table is at the end of the room. The spacious and well-equipped kitchen features hand-crafted wooden cabinets, a flagstone floor and high tech appliances. Another set of French doors lead onto the dining terrace. There is a second kitchen and a shower room on the ground floor. Bedroom one ( en-suite) is in the old part of the house and double French doors lead out to the rose and herb garden terrace. There are two more double bedrooms (one with queen sized bed and a loft with two single beds) overlooking the pool, both en-suite, both with French doors and one with a private terrace. The fourth and fifth bedrooms (both en-suite, one twin and one double) lie off the grand salon, one on the ground floor and one upstairs.

The large, deep swimming pool is surrounded by a stone terrace furnished with chairs and loungers, and a large teak dining table comfortably seating twelve. The pool has an alarm and is fully fenced and secured, meeting all current French safety legislation. Beside the pool is a Turkish-style sofra - a roofed outdoor sitting area with a central chimney-piece. Ideal for shady daytime relaxing, the sofra is also a cozy place with a log fire for cool evenings. A large gas barbecue is next to the sofra and close to the second kitchen for convenient poolside cooking. The gardens include a boules court, olive trees, herb and rose gardens, mature trees and meadowland.

What visitors have said about Moulin Niras |
| |
| |
Our time at Moulin Niras was like living in a Conde Nast Traveller feature. The house manages to combine elegant living with true comfort, ensuring a relaxed vacation from start to finish. Even with a full house, theres room for solitude with plenty of space inside and out. The house also more than copes with guests demands for endless hot water, great kitchen facilities, and easy access to all the South of Frances main attractions.
