We searched and finally found a house with a short walk to a safe, sandy beach, lush landscaped gardens. Inside - plenty of light and space: as little division between house and garden as possible. By a miracle this part of the coast has escaped urban development and still feels like "la campagne". The intense light and color that drew Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso and Van Gogh still cast a spell. |

This architect's mediterranean villa has superb views, own pool, a footpath to a sandy beach. There are swings, table tennis and a treehouse. A deep blue sky, warm sun and a landscaped garden full of mediterranean flora: palms, olives, lavender, rosemary, peach, orange, lemon, honeysuckle and jasmine surround the house and pool. A path without traffic in about 400m leads to the sandy cove where mica in the white sand looks like diamonds dancing in the water. The small village of Canadel is on the sea side of the Corniche des Maures, a 26km coastal road stretching from Lavandou to La Croix-Valmer, with breathtaking sea views. On the land side rises the Massif des Maures. A road 5 minutes from the house leads to the Col and the ridge path, superb for walking, cycling and picnics with vast blue vistas below. Many villas in Provence claim to give you such wonderful access to beautiful beaches and walking opportunities. La Lezardiere lives up to its description. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
Water sports are abundant. All local beaches good for snorkelling. On Canadel beach in season (mid-May - mid-Sep) you will find a Lifeguard, windsurfers, and pedalos for hire. Mattresses, parasols with iced drinks brought to your side and 2 beach restaurants complete the scene. Trips to Iles d'Or run all year round - these protected islands are said to be the essence of the Mediterranean. Exuberant scented Provencal flora, silver beaches, translucent seas, hot sun. No cars allowed but bikes can be taken on the ferry or hired in Porquerolles, the largest island. Here you can picnic, swim and hike in a magical landscape. The middle island, Port Cros is a marine, butterfly and insect reserve, the smallest of the French national parks. Levant, the third island has giant geraniums, nasturtiums, eucalyptus, a naturist colony and a couple of expensive hotels for overnight stays. |

Exterior Details |
We designed the villa to have as little division between house & garden as possible with privacy and space for different ages & activities. Outside the bedroom wing is the cactus garden with swings, a tree house, badminton, table tennis & boules play areas. Two bedrooms have french doors opening onto a central terrace with a pepper tree, family dining table & chaise lounges with amazing sea views. The living/dining room wing leads to a covered terrace with oak table, stone barbecue, summer kitchen & a gate to enclosed private pool. Up the steps is our "cocktail terrace", a quiet hideaway with eagles nest view of the sea & islands. The garden is landscaped, maintained, and can be illuminated at night. Inside the gates are parking spaces for several cars. The private pool is tiled with glass mosaics & serviced weekly. As villas in Provence go, this one's pretty special!

What visitors have said about La Lezardiere |

A really beautiful house, immaculate and very, very comfortable. We spent a very happy week here in July 2009, dividing our time between the pleasant local beach and the lovely pool. The house is fully equipped, with a particularly good kitchen and a spectacular view from the main living area. A great venue for a relaxing family holiday.

We've just returned from a lovely week at La Leazardiere (and found out the origins of the name). What a great place you have! We all enjoyed both the house and the surroundings immensely. Pictures used in ads often exaggerate - in this case I would rather say it didn't do the place justice! We were a big family group from Norway of 11 all in all, and found the house and facilities around (patios, garden, pool, etc) easily facilitated such a large group. Also, the surroundings with a sandy beach to the left and cliffs to the right offered something for everybody. The "map" on the outer wall was of great help. All in all, we were very happy with our stay (hard to find improvements) and would love to return!

I want to let you know that the house met all of our expectations and exceeded them. It was a wonderful holiday and we were all deeply sad to be leaving. I would highly recommend your villa. It was beautifully appointed with all of the
things that are essential for a good holiday.

We were thoroughly impressed by your holiday home and its captivating location; it was paricularly atmospheric when the "mistral" shook the shutters and swished the palms. The mimosa and acacia were in bloom, the Domaine was lovely and Sunday lunch at the Maurin des Maures was a great experience. We also liked Ramatuelle and Bormes and were taken with the Signacs at
L'Annonciade.

Our family of 4 (including 2 young children) spent two very happy weeks here in July 2009. The house has beautiful views and is superbly located. It is very comfortable and is well-equipped - you feel you are in a friend's home rather than a rental property. The house and garden are well designed, with the pool close to the house. Everything was immaculate on arrival, and the charming lady who cleans also provides a reliable babysitting service (for whole days as well as evenings). The owner went to great lengths to check that we had all that we needed and were enjoying our stay. The local area is well worth the (in places) grinding drive from Nice airport: it is unspoilt and laid-back compared to the more developed areas of the Cote d'Azur, and the proximity of the house to Le Rayol is a huge "plus" because it has all that you need for your stay, removing the need for supermarket trips to big towns. We have already booked our return visit and hope to become regulars. La Lezardiere is a very special place for a holiday!

Three friends and I rented this house for two weeks in May, 2009. Weather was perfect at that time of year. The house is situated in a lovely area surrounded by trees-private but not too isolated. It is close to several small towns with shops and grocery stores, about 30 minutes from St. Tropez. The house, and especially the kitchen, was extremely well-equipped with everything you could want to feel at home. Everything was clean and in good working order. Our favorite areas were outside-lovely terraces with views of the Mediterranean. The sea view from the largest terrace is somewhat obstructed by tall trees on a neighbor's property, but there were still plenty of places to see the water and lovely vegetation on the hillsides. The owner provided plenty of helpful information on the house and surrounding attractions and restaurants. We ate out at lunch every day but at home every evening, cooking or bringing prepared food back from the local markets, because nothing could compare with the charm of dining on our own terrace. Our favorite restaurant was 5 minutes away on the beach-Tamaris Plage. Delicious food and right on the water!
There is a bit of a climb from the driveway to the house-not too steep but perhaps difficult for older guests with lots of luggage. We all highly recommend this lovely home and hope to return some day!

"The house is absolutely wonderful. The grounds are stunning, the pool was beautiful and the view indescribably lovely. With so many bedrooms, dining areas and the large grounds, we could sneak off and find a quiet place to be alone or read when the mood struck. The kitchen was also so well laid out and stocked with so many wonderful tools. It was a joy to have good knives and almost everything I have at home. The little perch at the top tuned into our hideaway where we would have an aperitif before dinner - just fantastic!"

"To wake each morning and immediately be able to gaze out on the Mediterranean made us smile in appreciation. We enjoyed the pool immensely and all of the space your home offered. The water at the beach did indeed glitter and mesmerized us; the kids took great pleasure in diving for rocks and filling our bags with them."
