The Paris Apartment |
Montmartre, Paris - Ile de France, France |
|
| |
| |
One-off feature |
|
| |
A beautiful holiday apartment in the heart of Montmartre. It is our view that this little gem sits perfectly with the Paris most people still come to see – the stylish, distinctive and impossibly romantic one. Quirky, arty, very Parisian, full of wonderful bars, restaurants and original shops – who doesn't like Montmartre?

General Info |

| |
The apartment in Paris is 39m². It is in an art nouveau building which dates from 1914. The apartment has a host of period features, all beautifully restored, including fireplaces and original cornice work. All the local amenities are very close to hand – your boulangerie is on the corner and there is a delightful Swiss grocer in Rue Duhesme who seems to sell everything at any hour. A little further down, you will find Rue Damrémont which has an excellent deli, cheese shop, wine merchants and more diet-wrecking cake shops. There are bars, cafés and restaurants all around. It is five minutes' walk to the metro station of Lamark-Caulaincourt allowing you swift and easy access to other areas of this beautiful and extraordinary city. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
Montmartre is considered by many to be the artistic hub of Paris. Picasso, Modigliani, Van Gogh, Monet and Toulouse-Lautrec all made this historic area their home and won't you be the smug one knowing that you've paid the same as someone in a drab 2-star hotel? Remember them, as you sip a coupe de champagne under the chandelier in your private Paris salon. 10-15 minutes stroll away is Abbesses, home of Amélie Poulin. This is where you'll find Place du Tertre full of artists and cafés, popular with tourists, but really worth a visit. The world famous Sacré Coeur is a must and has a magnificent view of Paris. Abbesses is busy and lively. It has Paris' only vineyard and lots of bars and restaurants. There is lots to do – it's quirky and very Parisian. The trick is to stay somewhere a little quieter, where you can join in the fun, but still be able to get a good night's sleep. Our apartment allows you to enjoy the bars and cafés, but sleep easy in a residential area. |

Interior Details |
This Paris apartment is a gorgeous little nest with plenty of Parisian style and perfect for the relaxed, urbane traveller. It is suitable for couples and one baby under 2. The apartment is small (39sqm/400sq ft) but well-proportioned, certainly bigger than most hotel rooms and has its original layout. There are three flights of stairs, in a building with seven floors—it is quite normal in Paris to take stairs and people of all ages take the famous Montmartre steps (seen on many a postcard) all around the arrondisement. It is really NOT suitable for people who cannot manage stairs or have any mobility issues. Rest assured, you will not be uncomfortable in the apartment – the bed is like a cloud, the living room is a romantic cocoon of rich caramel and berry tones.

Exterior Details |
The bedroom faces onto the courtyard meaning there is no traffic noise but you may have other residents crossing the courtyard on their way out. It is, as the locals would say, very ‘calme’. The courtyard and main staircase are under the control of the property managers known in Paris as the building’s ‘Syndique’.

Further Details |
There is purposefully no TV or WiFi. This is so people can have a proper break as it is all too easy to bring all your emails and work stuff on holiday these days. You will be amazed how much of a break you get. There is, however, an internet café nearby. There are too many brasseries to eat at, too many Seine side boulevards to stroll down and too much good wine to quaff to bother with babbling CNN or Yahoo in Paris. One guest (from Ireland) had to leave early as she said “TV was like water” to her and she couldn't cope without it. If that sounds like you, and a TV could make or break your stay in Paris, our apartment is not for you. If you like to pad around, listen to music, have some conversation, a glass of wine, read and get into real Paris life, you will really enjoy your stay.

What visitors have said about The Paris Apartment |

The perfect Parisian apartment!! We truly enjoyed a lovely week in Paris ? a trip we were talking about from the day we met. How fortunate we were to have discovered this wonderful creation of Amanda and Brendan done with such exquisite taste and thoughtfulness.

From the moment I walked in I knew I'd found a home away from home in my favourite city in the world. The flat is everything we thought a Paris apartment should be, every need was met and every detail was paid attention to. Brendan and Amanda, to turn this apartment into a beautiful home takes love and creativity. The two of you have created an experience we will experience forever. We will look forward to returning as many times as possible.
