This is a magical chateau set in a beautiful estate with stunning formal gardens. Although it has 9 bedrooms, the chateau feels intimate yet the formal rooms are ideal for entertaining in style. You may not feel like leaving the grounds, yet the medieval port of Honfleur is 10 miles away, and Bayeux, the Landing Beaches and Monet's garden at Giverny are all within an hour. |

A beautiful 18th Century estate in Normandy, near Honfleur and Deauville. The chateau and farmhouse are available for luxury holiday rentals. A caretaker and his wife live on the estate and speak fluent French and English and offer a concierge service.
The chateau has 9 bedrooms and can sleep 18. The farmhouse has 5 bedrooms and can sleep 10. If rented separately, both properties are completely independent and offer absolute privacy to your group. The chateau has a heated pool and the adjacent stables have been converted into a flexible space that allows 30 people to dine together, with a fully equipped kitchen and 2 changing rooms with showers and WCs.
The estate consists of gardens, woods, orchards and farmland. A thorough update of the estate has taken place over the last 5 years which has included the restoration of the farmhouse and stable-block and the construction of a large swimming pool. Interior Details |
The chateau is beautifully decorated by skilled artisans, with incredible marble and parquet floors, decorative paint on the walls, and antiques.
Each floor has a different style. The garden floor is for the family and has large living spaces and an enormous open fireplace. The ground floor has beautiful reception rooms, built to impress and to entertain in style. The first floor bedrooms are beautiful, with some amazing antique beds. The top floor feels more like a manor house in style, with exposed beams.

Exterior Details |
The chateau is approached by a long drive - 1 km long. The last third is lined with beech and lime trees that create a beautiful avenue. Behind the chateau is a formal french garden bounded by a chapel and a pavilion. To one side is another formal garden - the Italian Garden - with stone benches and nooks. There is also an orchard with the pool at the far side. Next to the pool is the stable block which has been restored to provide a large galleried dining room which can easily seat 30 people. There is also a fully equipped kitchen and two changing rooms with showers and WCs. All these areas are surrounded by the estate's woods and farmland, including some commercial orchards.

Further Details |
The house was originally constructed in 1641 by Francois de la Haye and at that time was a" manoir" rather than a chateau, being much smaller than it is now. It was then enlarged in about 1720, when the chapel and pavillion were also built.
During the French Revolution, the family was protected as Francois’ son married the younger sister of the wife of the Marquis de La Fayette who was a prominent revolutionary. However the house did have an important role in the revolution as it acted as a safe house where escaping aristocrats waited after escaping from Paris down the Seine whilst waiting for favorable winds to sail from Barfleur in the Seine estuary to England.
150 years later, the house played a similar role as it was a safe-house for allied soldiers escaping back to the UK. However partly because of this activity, the Gestapo occupied the house for 18 months. The religious figures on the top floor were brought from Bavaria by some of the Gestapo and left behind when they vacated the house in a hurry in June 1944.

What visitors have said about Le Domaine du Mont |
| |
| |
We all had a wonderful week and the only negative reflection among our group was that our stay had to end. The quiet beauty and luxury of your Chateau and the helpful presence of your caretaker Graham and his wife Mandy all combined to make it a memorable experience. I want to personally thank you for putting up with the constant queries, and your patience in responding to them.
We took your advice regarding food supplies, restaurants and all the other information you passed on was right on the mark.
Again, on behalf of our circle of friends, thank you for providing such a rich and satisfying experience. Who knows, this could easily become an annual habit!

Chateau du Mont is even nicer in reality. We had a fantastic week there. Graham and Mandy looked after us superbly well. The chef cooked us amazing meals each evening and it was terrific not to have to clear up. He even did the shopping!!
We visited Honfleur and Deauville both stunning Normandy towns. It was a bonus having the large swimming pool and we all agreed we would be happy to live In the pool house.
We will definitely be back.

We are recovering from our trip to France.
Your chateau was beautiful and everything we could have wanted for our vacation.
Graham and Mandy were exceptional hosts including a tour of the battlefields and hosting two dinners supplied by the talented chef.

My group of twelve spent a glorious week at the Domaine Du Mont. The main house is very beautiful and the gardens are extraordinary. We also had the farmhouse, the Ferme Du Mont, a charming thatch-roofed cottage down a path through an orchard. The staff was friendly and attentive and the chef prepared wonderful breakfasts and dinners each day. Easy excursions included the invasion beaches and the American cemetery at Colleville sur Mer, the resort town of Honfleur, Monet’s house and garden at Giverny, Rouen, Bayeux, and Mont-Saint-Michel, which was the longest drive, but still less than two hours away. An unforgettable week in Normandy.
