This delightful chaumiere was originally where apples were crushed in an enormous circular horse drawn press to produce the precious juices for the fabrication of cider and calvados. |

Today it has been transformed into a comfortable cottage, ideal for up to 5 people and one cot. There is a main dining and kitchen area through which at one end is a twin bedded room and bathroom. The other side leads to a relaxing salon with a door opening out onto the enclosed garden, with one single bed. Another bathroom with shower,basin and wc and a bedroom with large double bed lead off the salon.The enclosed garden itself looks out onto a magnificent display of many rare species of plants through which a stream runs down to the sea.
Closeby, a quiet lane leads down to a vast deserted beach( 10min walk)perfect for kiteflying, cricket or football! |

Normandy is of course famous for its sights of historical interest such as the D day landing Beaches, Bayeux Tapestry and Mont St Michel. However a great mix of lush countryside and miles of unspoilt coastline are also waiting to be discovered. The delightful town of Honfleur with its picturesque port,stunning architecture and long history lies 10 mins to the east. Here you will find bustling restaurants, art galleries,churches and museums.Deauville and Trouville with their renowned sandy beaches,boardwalks,casinos and luxury shops are 15 mins to the west. Among the many day excursions possible are: Monets Garden at Giverny, beautiful towns of Rouen and Caen, Paris(2hours drive),the famous cliffs at Etretat, National Stud at Le Haras du Pin,and the enchanting Pays d'Auge. The Normandy Invasion beaches provide a truly memorable visit including the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach, the Mulberry Harbour at Arromanches with its Museum and circular cinema showing an impressive film. |

The beds are made up with duvets and Egyptian cotton sheets,large, soft fluffy towels are also provided. A complete change of linen once a week is included for guests who stay more than a week. La Forge is all on the ground floor and perfectly accessible for people with mobility problems. It is not especially adapted for wheelchairs but wheelchair access is certainly possible.

La Forge gite in Normandy is ideal for families with small children as they are unable to escape! There is a secure enclosed garden,surrounded by a hedge.A wooden dining table with benches and double deckchairs and parasol are ideal for relaxing under the walnut tree.

Prices are for the property per week in euros, all inclusive of sheets, towels,all household necessities, 4 bicycles,charcoal for the BBQ etc. You really only need to arrive with toothbrush and toothpaste as well as beach towels, so you may begin to relax as soon as you have unpacked!

La Forge is available from 4PM on a Saturday until 10AM on the Saturday of departure.
We prefer no smoking inside the cottage.
A 300EURO Bank Transfer is requested on booking followed by the balance one month before arrival at the gite in Normandy.

We absolutely adored the cottage and had a really wonderful week. Everything was perfect! The bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchen was a lovely room, the whole atmosphere of the place was very calm and homely. The cottage was wonderfully comfortable and it was lovely to be able to come back to it and relax in the evenings.

New Years Eve under the Eiffel Tower was fantastic. Everything was as promised and more. Our dog really enjoyed the surf beach too. We would love to come again sometime in 2008.C'est magnifique. Love the renovations-we all had a great New Year week.
