General Info |
|
| |
Lou Peyrou is a little different, like its owners! We are 'perched' on the road leading into Conques. The house is nearly 200 years old, built with stone from an old mill. It is a comfortable place, cosy yet cool in the summer heat. We have a gallery in the village where Sally exhibits her paintings, jewellery and scarves. There is always a chance to try your hand at pottery or painting. Visitors call it the 'tree house' - when sitting on the back balconies, you are tree height and surrounded by birds. Lou Peyrou has hosts of books to read and info about this incredible area.. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
We are surrounded by trees, walnut, birch and chestnuts. The river Dourdou below the house curls its way to meet the large River Lot, some 6 kms further on, where you can play in canoes etc. Conques village is above us as we are in a small gorge. There are numerous restaurants, bars, the church and its amazing treasures, artists studios and shops. We have a small gallery. You will find so many beautiful place to visit, even without a car, there are several chapels hidden in the woods, swimming is possible nearby as is horse riding. Najac, Roccamadour, Villefranche, Belcastel are all stunning places to visit. Markets, vide greniers, fetes...there's loads going on, aswell as concerts and preformances in Conques itself. It can be very hot in summer, but saying that, it can change as we are fairly high up. |

Interior Details |
The two bedrooms are next to a sweet bathroom with shower/corner bath/basin and toilet; this is shared if both rooms are occupied, although for a little extra, we can arrange not to rent the other room, so you have sole use. There is a kettle in the double room with tea/coffee, and the cutest of balconies over looking the old bridge...ideal for an evening drink or morning coffee, and of course for any smokers. It is not suitable for children, we only say this because of the height of balconies and all our 'bits' that are around. It is our home that we enjoy sharing, the sitting room is comfortable with a large balcony where you can have dinner/breakfast if warm.

Exterior Details |
Below the house there is a largish lay-by, public parking. It is used mainly by us but can be busy with walkers arriving by car to go off and explore the hills. There are several small terraced areas where you can find shade or sun. Across the road from Lou Peyrou, is the 'chemin'/pilgrims path, leading to Conques, so no need to walk on the road...although it is steep in places! Views are stunning as is the village - dominated by the Abbey-church, where the brothers go about their daily duties and provide some great musical evenings and tours in the church.

What visitors have said about Lou Peyrou |
| |
| |
Thankyou Sally for a great stay at Lou Peyrou. We had three wonderful nights with you and everything was just brilliant! Your suggestions as to places to visit, eat, walk or avoid were spot on and just what you need in unfamiliar surroundings. We will spread the word and hope to see you on our way home. Loved the house and Conques is a fairytale.

We would like to thank you for our stay at your cosy and beautiful house. Aveyron and Conques are very special places, even in the rain! Our bedroom was pretty with your paintings and craft pieces, and we slept like babies.
My mother loved her pottery i bought from you. Thank you again, maybe see you next year xx

We have stayed with Sally and Chris twice, the first time was too short, so one year later we retured and ended up staying a week! Sally and Chris are wonderful hosts and extremely helpful, what a fun time we had, six months later and we're still talking about it!
