La Couarde earned an Award of Excellence as the FRENCH FISHING HOLIDAY HOTSPOT OF THE YEAR 2005-06 by The Oxford Guardian. The lake was opened up at the end of August 2004 for the first time for people to fish. The lake of just over an acre lies at the front of the house in a small valley and the whole lake is easily accessible. Fishing with Carp Rods would be ideal for 2 or 3 anglers. Four can fish if you are all sensible, which is up to you. Coarse/Float fishing would not be a problem. The lake has been stocked with nearly one ton of fish! Carp (Both Mirror, Common & Grass) over 40lb and Cat Fish to over 50lb, plus Roach, Tench and some small Pike. The lake is fed by a small stream, which even in the hottest summers has never dried up. |

The Limousin region is a land of green fields, woodlands and gorges, interspersed with rivers and streams. The region’s three departments, Creuse, Correze and Haute Vienne, are ideal destinations for those in search of peace and quiet and unspoilt scenery: ramblers, riders, anglers, rock climbers, canoeists and other water sports fans. The countryside is dotted with charming, authentic little villages as well as castles, manors, Romanesque abbeys and churches. You are only a 30 minute drive from Limoges which is famous for its pottery and also has all the facilities you would expect from a town. There are plenty of lakes in the area and you will find some with their own beach! Nearby La Souterraine is a lovely village with some good restaurants. For the fisherman you have the exclusive use of the lake. If you are a golfer, there is an 18 hold course a ten minute drive from Limoges town centre. |

Getting There:
| Fly to Limoges and hire a car at the airport then only a 30 minute drive to the property. Or drive - We are 6 hours drive due south of Calais and 10 minutes drive from junction 24 off the A20-E9. The village of Colourolles is near Bessines-sur-Gartempe which is around 20 minutes drive North of Limoges and a short journey west of Bourganeuf. |

Downstairs the lounge is comfortably furnished and has a log burner to keep you warm on those chilly nights (wood is provided). The dining room seats 8 comfortably and leads into the American style kitchen with all the mod cons, and a separate utility room. Bedroom one (king size bed) and a large family bathroom are also on this floor. The stairs to the first floor leads you to a mezzanine area where this is seating and a flat screen TV to watch DVD’s as well as a Play station 2 - great place for the kids. The mezzanine area can also be used for the 7th or 8th person using the high quality single foldaway beds - please note that this is an open area and not a private bedroom so is probably better suited for children. There is a king size double and twin room on this floor (both with flat screen TV/DVD) and another bathroom on the first floor.

Outdoors you will find two patio areas with furniture, sun loungers and a gas barbecue for you to use, as well as outside lighting. In the grounds close to the Villa there is an outdoor, above ground pool (8.5x5m) for use between May and September (Subject To Availability) With Solar Powered Heating For Use Between May & September (May Be Available In April & October Depending On The Weather) The house overlooks the lake and 5 acres of superb grounds.

The floors are either stone tiles or oak parquet flooring and all the windows are double glazed with the property benefiting from full electric heating. There is also a large selection of books, chess table, puzzles and games for you to use plus a selection of CD’s, DVD’s and games for the supplied PS2. In the basement you will find the games area, which consists of a table tennis table, snooker/pool table, dartboard, table football, arcade machine and a small bar. There are also some tables and chairs for your comfort and a gas heater in case it is needed. There is also a TV/DVD in the games room with full Satellite TV access.

Well what we can say about the holiday - BRILLANT FISHING, BRILLANT LAKE & SUPERB WEATHER! I can honestly say that I never ever been to such a lovely place to fish. We had a brilliant week of fishing with over 1,568lb of fish! The Carp we caught up to 36lb and the cat's up to 37.8lbs. I felt I had to send this email just to thank you for letting us borrow your home it is beautiful and we can't wait to return!
