  L'Escapade is an ancient village house now completely restored to the highest standard. It is situated in a quiet backwater of the listed village of Lagrasse, and has stunning views of the Abbey and hills beyond, yet is only a few minutes from restaurants, cafe, village shops and bakery. It adjoins the main "place" with its 14th century Market Hall and mediaeval galleried houses plus the 12th Century bridge leading to the Abbey. Ideal for up to six people, it has three beautifully furnished double bedrooms (one with an en suite "wet room" bathroom) - there is also an exceptional family bathroom. The surrounding region is both beautiful and endlessly fascinating, featuring the ancient city of Carcassone alongside the natural features and wildlife through nearby Narbonne.

  One gets the best of both worlds here - halfway between the World Heritage site of Carcassonne's City and the ancient Roman port of Narbonne, the gateway to vast sandy beaches and marinas for sailing enthusiasts and the famous "etangs" (land locked salt lakes)with flamingos and other delights for nature lovers. It’s an ideal holiday location for people interested in history, wildlife, gastronomy, sampling the local wines; or just relaxing in the sun on the terrace!

  Interior Details A short staircase up from the entrance hall leads you up to a glorious light and colour filled space, soaring up to the roof with mezzanine above. Round the open fireplace spacious sofas give cosy comfort and the white walls provide a splendid backcloth for the artist owner's paintings which fill the house with colour. The elegant dining area seats six comfortably and the kitchen area has stainless steel "Smeg" fridges, dishwasher and cooker that complement the modern quality of the house. The mezzanine level has a dual purpose role as a television and "Home Cinema" viewing area with wide screen TV, DVD player and Sky Box as well as a study area where broadband internet facilities are available for connection upon request.

  Exterior Details Triple folding doors lead on to the vine covered terrace with its outstanding views of the Abbey. A barbecue and mosaic table seating six make a perfect setting for al fresco eating. Deck chairs and loungers also available.

An information pack "Welcome to L'Escapade" is provided with details of local services - restaurants, shops, garage, doctor, etc. plus places of interest is provided. The house may not be suitable for very young children or people of limited mobility.  
 
  Conditions of
Rental
The house is strictly non-smoking (guests can of course smoke on the terrace!). A deposit of 25% of the total rental is required on reservation and the balance, together with a £200 returnable "damage" deposit, is payable not less than three weeks before the date of arrival.
