Further Details |
Burgundy is primarily known as a land of fine food (plenty of rustic local and Michelin starred restaurants nearby) and wines (Dijon and the Cote de Nuits / d'Or, through Cote Chalonainse / Maconnaise down to Beaujolais just north of Lyon) but it has so much more to offer visitors...from the walking trails, lakes and waterfalls of the Jura mountains, the canals and cycleways, to the exceptional Roman and medieval heritage and architecture. Lyon, Dijon, Chalon-Sur-Saône, Autun, Cluny and Beaune are all steeped in history and local architecture and make for fascinating visits as does Tournus, a prestigious Romanesque city set on the Saône river which has one of the most visited sights in Burgundy, the 11th and 12th century Saint Philibert Abbey.

What visitors have said about Moulin de Lhomont |
| |
| |
"We have arrived back safe & sound from our second stop in Bordeaux. We much preferred Burgundy, due in no small part to the accommodation. You have a delightful property and we could well come back again soon with some friends who are into fine wine as well."
Glen & Bogunia, Bedford, UK, Jul 2008
|
"I wanted to let you know that we've had a great time here and that you've made it very easy to stay here - felt at home immediately - and everything so spacious and comfortable. We usually had our main meal at lunch – which was a good excuse for a jaunt out but we quickly found there was no better place to have a light supper than on the terrace watching the sunset! We will recommend the house to any of our American friends who yearn for real French country life but with all the luxuries."
Chris & Linda, California, USA, Jan 2008
|
"We know Burgundy but our first time to SE area - What a delight it has been. Enjoyed this fine house. Explored pretty villages and found excellent food. Pride of place must go to the Creuze in Tournus for a fantastic Sunday lunch. Sunday food market in Chalon was excellent. I hope to return to this most peaceful house and continue my exploration of this unique and beautiful area."
Peter & Lisa, Hertfordshire, UK, Oct 2007
|
"Fantastic 2 weeks. Idyllic setting - wonderful soft furnishings & rustic fittings. BBQ & pizza oven worked a treat. Enjoyed watching wild life from the balcony with a glass (or two) of Burgundy!!"
George & Andy, Dan & Amy, Stratford on Avon, UK
|
"Our first time visiting Burgundy and loved it! Loved exploring farms and hamlets, watching various things being harvested. Created our own local walks, explored the Jura and Maconnais wine area but liked being local the best. A perfect location."
Dick & Hilary, Martin & Rosemary, Boston, USA and Norfolk UK, Sep 2007
|
"First visit to Burgundy - what a wonderful place it is - had such a good time. The Moulin de Lhomont is beautiful, so well equipped, gorgeous decor, luxurious bedlinen/towels. Highlights - Herisson Falls in Jura Mountains, loved Tournus, Chalon sur Saone, market at Louhans. After 2 weeks of 'chilling' now ready to face 'everyday life'. Thanks Trish for making us so welcome."
Sally & Peter, Battle, UK, Jun 2007
|
"Moulin de Lhomont is even better than the photographs! Very comfortable and well equipped for a holiday. Love the fact that it is delightfully rural yet within easy reach of lots of interesting places to visit. Look forward to longer stay to sample more local restaurants tho' supper on the balcony watching the sunset will take some beating as a venue! Beaune is beautiful. You have created a great holiday home - a short visit this time but I will be back soon!"
Fran, East Grinstead, UK, May 2007
|
"Thank you so much for letting us stay, it was so lovely, I am in love with the place! It really is beautiful. I went and sat in the field with a drink for a good hour and a half, just looking back at the mill and it was just so calm and quiet."
Claire, Reading, UK, Jan 2007
|
"Thank you so much for the great accommodation!"
Kevin (and fellow cyclists), Vancouver, Jan 2008

"We had wonderful weather in October and enjoyed being able to have a fire in the evening. My sister said Burgundy was the one place she would return to in France! Thanks for your wonderful organisation. We really enjoyed our stay in the mill."
