General Info |
|
| |
The interior of the chalet has been renovated with care and attention to detail, and is furnished to a high standard to provide a cosy home away from home, and a unique rural retreat which feels a world away from modern stresses. Relax in comfort in front of the log fire and watch the river drift by through the panoramic windows. In our aim to provide a natural retreat without compromising on comfort, we have made some conscious choices. This has been to encourage the heating of the chalet by the highly efficient log burning fire for which we provide ample logs (there are however electric radiators as a backup). There is a hifi (mp3 compatible) DVD player and LCD screen (a selection of DVDs provided), but no TV. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
Set in the Parc Regional d'Armorique, the chalet is on a protected piece of coastline, nestled amidst classified woodland, and a protected site for birds. Directly from the chalet you can walk the footpaths and explore by boat the waterfront restaurants, villages and oyster farms. You are very well placed to make the most of the numerous attractions this area has to offer. The superb white sandy beaches and stunning coastline of the Crozon Peninsula are just a short drive. For supplies, the village of Rosnoen (2 miles) has a well stocked shop and Le Faou with its supermarket, shops and restaurants is only 5 miles away. The seaside towns of Morgat and Camaret are easily accessible. Slightly further afield are the medieval towns of Locronan and cathedral city of Quimper, numerous military sites and the ancient abbey at Landevennec. |

The chalet comes with two kayaks for exploring the river. A small aluminium fishing boat can also be hired subject to the relevant experience. A large wooden deck gives onto the view, an outdoor space where you can make the most of the sunshine and settle into the peace and total serenity of this stunning spot. Please note the drive to the chalet is fairly steep, but you can park at the bottom inside of the gates.

Further Details |
In 1968, a French couple were granted experimental planning permission to build a 'low-impact' wooden chalet on the banks of the River Aulne, at the entrance to the Crozon Peninsula, making a change from the standard villa in Brittany. Three months later, the entire area was designated a natural park of special interest, and it is now the 2nd largest natural park in France. From this point on, no further construction whatsoever was permitted in this area. Ty Bois is therefore unique in its location, and offers complete tranquillity. Set in its own 5 acre woodland park with winding footpaths, flowers and trees, the views from the chalet across the wide, tidal river are sublime and you are totally immersed in nature. The nearest village and local shop is 3km away, and Le Faou only 7km so you are also very well placed for exploring and local amenities.

What visitors have said about Ty Bois |
| |
| |
Claire - you said we would not be disappointed.....Ty Bois has completely surpassed our expectations - we think this must be the best place to stay on the whole of the Presqu'ile de Crozon region. We have had a fantastic time and were only let down by the weather. You have done a fantastic job renovating Ty Bois - the antique and modern mixture of furnishings complement each other beautifully though it remains a completely family friendly property and we could relax knowing there was nothing too precious to touch! We really appreciated the provision of maps which were well used, as well as the AA guidebook, novels, CDs and DVDs. We were so pleased to have a couple of days in which we made use of the boat and kayak. We will not hesitate to recommend Ty Bois to our friends and we are sure we will return.

An absolutely superb holiday in wonderful surroundings. The house has everything you could wish for in a holiday home and offered contemporary, yet stylish living in a truly stunning location. After fantastic former praise there is little to add except that after a hectic first four months of the year, it was great to truly unwind and we can safely say this happened from the moment we drove up the track and saw Ty Bois.

Many many thanks Claire. We had an absolutely blissful time. Ty Bois was better than we dreamed (and our dreams were certainly fueled by your lovely website.) We were lucky to have had such nice weather of course. We are very grateful to you for providing so thoughtfully for our comfort and fun.

After spending a fortnight here enjoying total bliss, all that is left to say is Claire, Andrew, we tip our hats to you. You have done a magical thing with a mystical house in a breathtaking location. We loved the whole experience, it's just what we needed.

We have spent an absolutely wonderful week here! We have had warm and sunny weather with not a spot of rain! The chalet did indeed surpass our expectations. The views were beautiful and the house itself was beautifully decorated and well equipped. The decking was an excellent feature, we ate outside most days. The chalet was well received by our children, lots of attention for them, much as a result of the airy open plan style.
This is a wonderful region of France and we explored as much as we could in the time. We enjoyed a fabulous day at Oceanopolis, the children loved it - well worth a visit. Quimper is a bustling and interesting town to visit. Trez Bihan beach was truly marvellous. We also did a tour of the Crozon peninsula, including Camaret(must visit the Pen Hir viewpoint for views), Morgat and Crozon. Also did a drive around the small peninsula towards the Pointe des Espagnoles. Thankyou for a wonderful week!
