General Info |

| |
The Chateau is an ideal venue to explore the region; it provides great comfort with 4 large reception rooms, a huge kitchen and pantry, and a south facing conservatory. There is lots of space inside and out. It is situated in the Gironde hills bordering the Lot-et-Garonne and the Dordogne, a beautiful location in the wine region of the South-West of France. This scenic area offers a wide range of activities and sight-seeing excursions. The site dates back to Roman times and the main building dates from the 15th century. The Chateau is considered a local historic monument, with interesting features and signs of fortification most likely associated with the 100 years war. Previous owners include the Marquis de Seville and the Ducs de Duras. An 'information book’ at the Chateau contains useful information and lists the places of interest in the area. It is accompanied by maps and a restaurant guide. The Chateau is prepared for your arrival; all you have to do is enjoy yourselves! |

Further Details |
The local town of Duras is a pretty arcaded bastide town 6km from the property, ideal for daily shopping. There are restaurants, supermarket, bars, banks, bakers, butchers and petrol stations. The market is in the main square every Monday morning. The town is on a hill with lovely views and the once grand Chateau de Duras is open to the public. In May and June the area is full of wild flowers and the orchards are in full blossom. The grape picking season is late September/October when it can be as hot as July/August. If you are not restricted to school holiday periods May/June Sept/Oct is a beautiful time to visit the South West. Championship golf (Chateau Vigiers 27 holes) is 15 minutes away as is the fun of the Dordogne river. The well equipped kitchen encourages a variety of chefs to be associated with the Chateau if you want a formal or informal (al fresco) meal cooked for you. We had a fabulous holiday in your wonderful home-what a place to celebrate Rosie's 60th.!! Christiane cooked us a great meal and Carl prepared an excellent BBQ.
Our 4-year-old granddaughter actually managed to swim her first strokes in your beautiful pool. I would really like to go again next year if possible.
You must be very proud of what you have created at Chateau des Egrons-and thank you again for letting us share it.

We had a fantastic week. The Chateau is quite beautiful and I am unashamed to say that we did as little as we could possibly do in a week. We were blessed by the hot weather and our tennis and swimming has definitely improved!
Thank you again and hope to return some time soon

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the chateau. I wish it could have been longer; I have to say of all my French holidays this has been my favourite visit to France.
