Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation
Go down to the seafront and the beaches are pristine. There are interesting walks in both directions; Bexhill is a few kilometres to the West, and the beach can be followed almost all the way (via the lovely little ‘Café By The Beach’) to the restored Art Deco De La Warr pavilion for lunch. If you head East out of the hotel, via the charming and historic old part of town, you’ll find Hastings Country Park – 270 hectares of sandstone cliffs, footpaths and nature trails. You can ride one of the oldest and steepest funicular railways up to the park, which is essentially a seven mile extension to the South Downs. With its hilly walks and impressive craggy coastline views, it has a ‘Dorset-esque’ feel that will satisfy even the most determined of walkers.

Further Details Without doubt, the best thing about Hastings is the Old Town. Billed by Tatler as ‘The New Notting Hill’(!), the series of cobbled, winding streets around old fishermen’s houses just off the seafront are littered with antique arcades, junk shops, vintage clothes shops, retro furniture shops and a good selection of bars and restaurants. Shops with wonderful wordplay names such as ‘Cobblers to The Old Town’ and ‘The Vinyl Countdown’ can be found here, as well as ‘The Dragon Bar’ - Hastings’ funkiest bar that feels like our own little slice of Shoreditch!

What visitors have said about Zanzibar Hotel

I am not the type of person that writes reviews, as I am suspicious of the people that write them! But on this occasion I feel compelled to let everyone know what a great stay we had at this hotel. The room was fantastic, we had a great view of the 'supermoon' shimmering over the sea and the welcome was warm and hospitable. We are awkward customers as we have young children but our needs were looked after in every way. The breakfast was superb and the meal we had at St Clements was delicious. Thank you from a normally grumpy Londoner.... .

Wonderfully relaxing weekend away from it all with everything taken care of for us. I found the hotel by chance and decided to book it for a break for my partner's birthday. Choosing which room to book was probably the most difficult thing, but once chosen everything else was simple. The welcome and assistance on arrival was genuine and the welcome drink was much appreciated. The room was fabulous with everything you could want and more, breakfast was delicious and hot despite the 3 storey climb to our room. Everything had been thought of, friendliness was genuine and the attention to detail was very good.

Top class Zanzibar. We stayed in the South America. Huge room with fantastic seaviews. Spa tub in middle of the room and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Oh and the breakfast to die for, couldn't eat until the evening. I will definitely be going back. Staff well informed and friendly.. keep up the good work and see you again.
