What visitors have said about The Cleeve

I just wanted to thank you for having such a wonderful house. Everyone kept saying how great it was. We arrived in the dark so it wasn't until the next morning that we saw the lovely views. Luckily the weather was brilliant as we could make most of them and the area over the weekend... Thanks again and I will certainly recommend The Cleeve.

I want to thank you for our most wonderful stay at The Cleeve... The house was absolutely perfect for us (certainly no shortage of beds), and the area is absolutely beautiful. We spent almost every day out walking somewhere in the hills, when we were not catching up on the last 30 years. We loved the decorations in the house... and the kitchen became the focal point of the reunion with the Aga oven and the 4 minute dishwasher. Leaving the house was hard, after a fantastic week, but made a little easier by the person who cleans the house... I have attached a link below to some of our photos from the time at the house and some of the walks we went on. Thank you for returning the cautionary deposit so quickly... I hope we can take you up- on a future stay.....I would go back in a flash.

Thankyou very much for providing such a fabulous holiday let. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your brilliantly equipped house in a perfect location for family fun. We have all had a wonderful holiday and will be recommending you to anyone who is looking for a large holiday venue, and all four families have felt the holiday was such a success that we may well like to rebook for next year.

Our group had a great time at The Cleeve. The accommodation itself was amazing with the big bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms, large dining table and two big lounge rooms. We found the added extras like the croquet set really good.

We have never before stayed in a house which provided so ideally for its target clientele- it really is the perfect house party venue. Although a handsome Victorian former hunting lodge, it is stylishly modernised, bright and very fresh. Every comfort and convenience has been carefully considered - plenty of relaxed living space and seating, places to get away in both garden and house, games and TVs which work well, a brilliant dishwasher, huge amounts of plain crockery and cutlery, comfortable bedding. There were 18 adults sharing a birthday celebration in our party and every person commented on what a wonderful house it was. It seated 20 for the birthday dinner with ease. The walks from the garden up into the woods and beyond were magical. Porlock and the entire coast and area are beautiful - walks varied with coast, moor and woodland to explore. Thank you. It was a really impressive house to rent - we have had many over the years and none have matched it.

We had a marvellous week at The Cleeve... It is a lovely house in a very convenient setting, and we enjoyed the facilities it offers very much...
CC,  UK,  Oct 2010

The Cleeve lived up to expectations, and was the best place our merry band have stayed in - very comfortable, extremely well equipped, and ideally situated. The deer in the garden were much appreciated! We turned the octagonal sitting room into a music room (we all started learning musical instruments six months ago) and had a concert party to celebrate a birthday. We walked every day, and enjoyed the scenery, and also the many attractions. The Bakelite Museum at Willington is a gem of a place!

We had a fantastic time at The Cleeve but unfortunately it all went by too quickly. I cannot think of anything you could possibly do to improve on a wonderful house. We could not have wanted for a thing - The Cleeve is beautifully furnished with such tasteful decor. There must be every sort of utensil in the kitchen, along with an amazing amount of cutlery, glassware and crockery. ...The weekend was a celebration of my retirement after 28 years in the NHS as well as my 60th birthday and I would not have wanted to have been anywhere else. Thank you for letting us share such a fabulous place (I don't think I would want to let anybody else stay there if I owned it!!)

I don't know how many responses you've already had but I'm another of the vast clan that stayed at your beautiful lodge to help celebrated my sister's birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Cleeve and was amazed that you'd thought of practically everything that people would want/need during their stay, most especially the well-stocked kitchen. The things I loved most about the house (and these are a bit random) - the swoop of the underneath of the staircase, the 1930's picture of the woman in the car and, the decor. I've been recommending your lodge to all my friends and colleagues. Many thanks for allowing us to stay, we'll have to save up and come back again some day.

We would just like to say how much we all enjoyed our stay at The Cleeve, and to compliment you on how you have provided everything and to such a high quality, it was all perfect...
ED & LD,  England,  Jan 2010

All of our party were delighted by The Cleeve. It was very welcoming and we all felt very relaxed there. Lovely bedrooms and bathrooms. Plenty of space for large parties and great that you had two sitting rooms so that children could enjoy the Wii, games or extra channels without disturbing the rest of us. Thanks too for the lovely welcome pack. I honestly cannot think how you could improve it.
JY,  UK,  Jan 2010

There were 28 of us, we had the time of our lives! We had 7 families of 4, so we filled the house completely! It was still big enough to get lost in though... the kids had a ball playing hide and seek! The whole week was amazing, we had walks on the beach, we all walked to Porlock Weir, the boys played golf, we took the kids to a local wildlife park. The whole week was great. Thank you again, Kevin, for a week we will never forget.
