Home to the owner’s ancestors for more than 300 years, this is a house with a heart. The furniture and paintings reflect the family’s history, the bookcase in the drawing room was carved by a relation, the wheel supports in the library were taken from the owner’s grandfather’s ship and the 5,000 books have been collected by successive generations since the late 17th century. In short, the house is filled with stories. With its informal, friendly atmosphere, a dedicated and caring team of staff, and a gorgeous village location, there isn’t much not to love about this place. Clearly Visit Britain, who have given it a 5 star rating and a Gold Award for Outstanding Quality of Accommodation and Service, agrees. Whether you’re here for a celebration, a reunion, a corporate event or a peaceful retreat, you’re sure to enjoy the beautifully decorated bedrooms, the exceptional service, and the abundance of activities both on and off site. |

Further Details |
The house and gardens are looked after by an excellent team and we provide a generous hamper of local foods, carefully chosen wines and locally produced apple juice on arrival. We can offer superb cooks if you would like someone to prepare for a special occasion and a natural beauty therapist if you need pampering. We can arrange a variety of special events and activities from horse-drawn carriage rides, archery and falconry in the gardens to a hot air balloon over Cheddar Gorge. We also offer the services of All Being Well (co-founded by the owner of the house), which provides mediation, coaching, leadership and other personal and business development services. We work hard to support our local community and to do our bit to help the environment. Cossington Park has been home to a family of explorers, adventurers, sailors, politicians and philanthropists, including one of the founders of the Reform Club and promoter of the 1832 Reform Bill and founder of the national UK children’s charity ICAN. Cossington Park is non-profit-making. All revenues are ploughed back into the estate so that it may be enjoyed by future as well as present generations.

Conditions of Rental |
Check out time is 10am, check in after 4pm. There are two areas for private off-road parking for up to 8 cars. The house has oil-fired central heating. The cost of oil and electricity is included in the rental price. Open log fires may be lit in the Library and we will supply logs, without charge (there is a log-burning stove in the Drawing Room). The house is non-smoking; arrangements for smokers can be made with prior written approval. Animals are permitted with prior written agreement. To maintain the large gardens in pristine condition, our gardener needs to work throughout the year. She is sensitive to the need to respect the privacy of our guests and will tend to avoid grass-cutting and other activities close to the house when the house is occupied. Unfortunately, Cossington Park was not designed with the needs of the disabled in mind. Please let us know if any member of your party has special needs and we will make every effort to accommodate these.

Wonderful weekend. The best equipped house and the most helpful staff you could possibly require. Kate was a sensationally good cook!

We didn't want to leave ... What can I say, it was perfect. Just a fantastic set up you have there. The rooms are just right and the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Only praise from everyone who was with us at the weekend. It really made the christening a great event to remember and we didn’t want to leave. Hope one day we will come back and visit, our two boys Joseph (3yrs) and Samuel (1yr) just loved it. Can’t thank you enough.

[The highlights of our stay were] too many to list! Walking in and finding this beautiful home at our disposal was a highlight in itself. Every small detail was thought of – the hamper, the fresh teatowels, the croquet set!
