General Info |
|
| |
Full of sunlight and thoughtfully restored, this is a cottage with natural warmth. The crooked timber frame, leaning walls and low ceilings are appealingly eccentric, the use of materials like earth daub, lime plaster and green oak retain the cottage’s original character, and features like the inglenook and old stone bread oven speak volumes about the house’s history. At the same time there are some lovely contemporary touches, from the white walls and terracotta/oak floors to the invisible under floor heating. The location of the house couldn’t be more tranquil and picturesque – the cottage stands in 5 acres of meadows and orchard, where flowers are abundant and fallow deer come to graze. Beyond the grounds, stunning countryside stretches for miles, rich in historic settlements and criss-crossed with walking and cycling trails. Manor Holding is the perfect base from which to enjoy the delights of the English countryside. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
The ancient oak forest in which the cottage sits stands on the west bank of the Severn, south of the Ironbridge Gorge. Wyre Forest connects right to the door of the cottage and much of the surrounding countryside has been classified as an Area of Outstanding Beauty, laced with horse riding and rambling trails so you can explore the old-fashioned way. Four miles away, along a network of cycle paths and through a national nature reserve, is the Georgian town of Bewdley and in the opposite direction are charming Cleobury Mortimer and, further afield, the medieval border town of Ludlow, with its Michelin starred restaurants and mouth-watering food shops. This area is home to an abundance of fascinating attractions, whether you want to explore Stokesay Castle, ramble the Shropshire Hills, take a ride on a steam train or take the children to West Midlands Safari Park. |

Thank you for a lovely stay in your lovely cottage! Amazing!
Our boys, Ben & Sam loved walking the woods so close to the cottage!
We travelled out about 25 miles in all the directions each day to see the beautiful country’side, the buildings and countryside are breath-taking!
It was a pleasure to have a cottage that is so dog friendly.
I will recommend it to friends back home!
Many thanks, take care.
