General Info |

Catch the train at the station: weekends and Wednesdays (Summer only). The Mid-Norfolk Railway Preservation Trust was established in 1995 with the aim of buying the then-disused line between the Norfolk market towns of Dereham and Wymondham, and restoring regular passenger services for the first time since the line closed in 1969.
Railway Fishing Lakes: Situated behind the station, the railway fishing lake is a 60-peg spoon-shaped water only 10 minutes from the main site at Barford and has been developed with silver fish anglers specifically in mind.

Me, my husband and 2 young children stayed in the Waiting Rooms over the Christmas period. What a fantastic location to spend Christmas! The cottage was decorated wtih Christmas lights, decorations and Christmas tree and was a lovely warm and cosy place to stay.
The Santa express came past on the days leading up to Christmas - much to my two boys delight. It was lovely to stand in our pyjamas on the front step waving at the train guards and passengers.
The location is great - being within easy driving distance of Norwich, Kings Lynn and Downham Market. There was plenty for the children to do (even so close to Christmas) and we can recommend Banham Zoo and Weston Dinosaur Park for young children.
The owners are friendly and offered use of their garden and children's play area. There were chickens, geese and ducks wandering around the grounds - great fun for the kids.
We were very sorry to leave and would definately recommend the waiting rooms to anyone who would like to get away from it all in a comfortable and pleasant holiday home.

This lovely property was a delight to stay at, extremely comfortable, very clean. Coming from the hustle and bustle of city life, the peace and quiet was mesmerizing. The night skies had us enthralled, we spent many hours just gazing at the stars and listening to the Owls in the distance. The Steam trains at the weekends were a real treat, and all the volunteers were really friendly. Our hosts were extremely pleasant and very helpful. We would recommend this property to anyone who seeks peace and quiet, even the occasional low flying jets were not to disturbing. We have recommended this property to our friends and we will be going back at the earliest opportunity.

We enjoyed a fantastic week at this holiday let. It was in a peaceful location with a lovely feature - real steam trains passing the front door at the weekends (and a diesel train on Wednesdays). The accommodation itself was charming and offered all we required for our stay. Andrew and Shirley couldn't have been better hosts. Our children loved having use of the trampoline and climbing frame and having all the space to run around in. If only we hadn't filled up our days so much they would have played in the pool too! We were all really sorry to leave at the end of our stay - but certain we will be back.We would recommend this property.
