One-Off Feature
This spacious and well proportioned house dates fron 1890 and its walls are typical Norfolk flint. It sleeps six (plus cot) and has recently undergone total refurbishment under the care of French & Lines, with interior design by Jane Colston.
General Info
Furnished with natural materials and calm colours, it is equipped with all that you will need (including crab-fishing lines!) for a restful break. A comprehensive collection of leaflets is provided, with many of our suggestions for good places to eat / shop / swim / sail / play golf / visit churches / walk / bird-watch and sample the local brew. Blakeney is ideal for those interested in sailing, walking, bird-watching, cycling and golf. It is famous for its narrow winding streets and traditional brick and flint cottages and houses. The picturesque quayside is a 300 yard walk from the cottage, and gives access to many acres of marshland now owned by the National Trust.
The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation
The old Georgian former market town of Holt is approximately 5 miles inland and offers some of the best shopping in North Norfolk. There are a variety of shops in Blakeney including a supermarket (open on Sunday mornings), butcher, chandlers, clothing & gift-shops, as well as several craft shops with original water-colours for sale. At one end of the quay is the splendid eighteenth century King's Arms inn. At the other end of the quay the grassy knoll of Mariners Hill gives superb views over the salt marshes to Blakeney Point, and the narrow High Street winds up to St. Nicholas' church on the coast road. The cottage is in a popular sailing centre with a safe estuary protected by the famous Blakeney Point. You can sail from Blakeney (or nearby Morston) to land on Blakeney Point. Regular motor-boat trips leave the quay and visit the seal colonies nearby.

The un-spoilt, pretty coastal village of Cley-next-the-sea is a few miles to the east, and the owners of the cottage are also the owners of the famous Cley Windmill, one of Norfolk's best known landmarks. The chefs at the Windmill are making quite a name for themselves and we would highly recommend that you make a visit. The current outside diner price is £32.50 (3 courses) but you will receive a 10% discount on this. Another alternative is that we can arrange for one of our chefs to come to the Old Bakery and serve your meal there.
