This traditional country inn has provided hospitality in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside for over 140 years. Only three local families have owned the crown since the 1930’s! With three individual en-suite bedrooms and a chef who produces wonderful meals, this is a great base from which to explore Leicestershire. |

General Info |
|
| |
Tranquil unspoilt countryside. Traditionally a famous area for hunting and shooting. A relatively unknown part of England with lots to do and see or just simply relax. A traditional country inn located in the pretty stone village of Sproxton just 10 minutes from the A1. The present owner has recently renovated the building and added 3 individual ensuite bedrooms. We are a free house and we source our food and wine personally to bring guests quality seasonal produce and interesting old world wines. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
The Crown is well located on the Leicestershire Lincolnshire Rutland boarders – a relatively undiscovered spot with lots to see be castles, gardens, market towns or country walks and of course Rutland water. Belvoir Castle is 10 minutes away. Belton House, Burghley House and Grimsthorpe Castle are all near. Wonderful gardens are found at Barnsdale, Doddington Hall, and Easton Walled Garden. Stilton Cheese and Pork Pies are what nearby Melton Mowbray is famous for and the lovely market town of Stamford is only 15 miles away. Rutland water has sailing, cycle ways and bird-watching. This could be a little bit of rural heaven! |

Further Details |
Our Chef Dave concentrates on traditional pub food with a modern twist using the best of our local produce. Where possible we like to know where our produce is reared, grown or made. For example the owner’s brother supplies our beef, our wild boar comes from the other side of the A1, we know the man who grows our onions and potatoes in Cambridgeshire, and we go to France and Italy to see the vineyard for our wines and so on. This ensures we bring our customers quality and value. Our menu changes daily according to availability and season – if you have any special requirements please ask.
Eat in our Restaurant or informally in the bar or courtyard. Light lunches and sandwiches or home made burgers are available mid-day.
Private events, parties and small weddings tailored to your specific requirements.

Just a quick note to say thanks for what was an unexpected treat at the end of a long weeks travelling. The rooms were great, and food really was spot on. The wine list was excellent and I have already recommended this place to numerous friends.
I wish you every success on this great little adventure and will definitely stay again.
