You can even walk to one of our local pubs, straight from your cottage door. The fabulous coastline offers safe, clean beaches and coves, even a lighthouse to visit. Blackpool Sands, our nearest beach, is just 20 minutes drive away. Head towards Kingsbridge for more gorgeous, sandy beaches. Tranquil and rural as it might be here, we're only 15-20 minutes drive from the bustling waterside towns of Dartmouth and Totnes. The port of Dartmouth is a sailor’s paradise, with lots of visiting ships and yachts to see, not to mention a steam railway and castle. Don’t forget to check out the chic boutiques, galleries and fabulous eateries. Totnes, quirky, bohemian capital of the South West, has a great market, endless independent shops to browse, not to mention teashops and cafes with divine treats to tempt you. Further afield are the historic cities of Exeter, famed for its cathedral, and Plymouth, renowned for its maritime heritage. |

Getting There:
| Gitcombe House lies off a country lane near the village of Cornworthy, between Totnes and Dartmouth, in South Devon. Our entrance is marked by two traditional Devon stone pillars, engraved Gitcombe House, with a driveway leading down into the valley for about a quarter of a mile. If coming by car, we are about 40 minutes from Exeter and 30 minutes from Plymouth. The nearest railway station is Totnes, 15 minutes away. This is the main London-Penzance line. The fast service takes about 3 hours. Bristol is the nearest main airport, about 2 hours away, but both Exeter and Plymouth have local airports. |

The Hayloft is an open plan, first floor loft-style barn, full of light, and with a vaulted ceiling. It has a spacious living area with comfy sofa and chairs, wooden flooring and French doors to a wooden balcony. You arrive in the Hayloft via an external flight of open tread wooden stairs, which lead to a stable door and into a generous galley kitchen area with plenty of work surface and storage. There is an integrated fridge under work top (with small freezer box) and all necessary mod cons. The dining table seats 4. The sleeping area has a king size double bed and has room for a cot. There is a
fabulous spacious bathroom with bath, shower over, wc, hand basin and heated towel rail. There is a flat screen TV. There is full electric central heating throughout.

Lovely private wooden balcony with table and chairs. 34ft x 22ft heated outdoor pool (depth 3ft – 6ft) in a sunny sheltered spot. Usually open mid May to mid September. Pool is gated and secured by hand carved wooden fencing. Wooden benches and bear chairs for sunbathing. Decked sunbathing terrace outside the indoor pool with magnificent views over the grounds and to distant Dartmoor National Park. Hot tub on the decking outside the indoor pool; magnificent under a starlit sky. Championship sized all weather tennis court. Basketball net and boules court. Wooden swings for infants, children and grown ups. Hand carved adventure playground including wooden pirate ship, train, treehouse and throne. Fourteen acres of gorgeous grounds and nature to picnic in and explore. Footpaths direct to surrounding countryside and inns. Perfect for spotting snowdrops, bluebells, cowslips, foxgloves, hares, deer, badgers, buzzards and owls.

The facilities at Gitcombe are superb, making it the perfect place for a winter as well as a summer break, with hoards of things to entertain adults and children alike. There is a 30ft x 18ft heated indoor pool (29c) at a safe constant depth of 3ft with warm ambient air flow when you get out. Access by card key and open 8.30am to 9pm. Changing rooms, wc’s, showers and relaxing wooden bear chairs to chill out on. Klafs sauna and steam rooms. Children’s soft cushion playroom with ball pool and play shapes for the under 5’s. Pool table. With the countryside on your doorstep, you’ll enjoy unparalleled views, trees, wild flowers, birds, badgers, rabbits, hares, sheep, cows, star lit skies and copious fresh air. Further afield are the wilds of Dartmoor National Park for exploration, with its moors, tors, wild ponies and stunning river valleys.

25% of total rental cost due as deposit to confirm booking. Balance due 8 weeks prior to arrival. Deposits are non refundable. Property available from 3pm on your arrival day. Please vacate by 10am on your departure day. No pets. Changeover day is a Friday.
