General Info |

Less than five hours by car from London, and just one hour from Exeter (London Paddington 2 ½ hours by train) North Devon is a largely undiscovered holiday haven of spectacular coastal scenery and quiet country villages. Soldon Manor is one of the most significant period properties in the area. This delightful Manor House has been well documented in noted West Country reference books, including an entry in Pevsner. Completely renovated inside and out during 2007, Soldon Manor now benefits from underfloor heating beneath the original slate flagstone floors. The massive walls, up to four feet thick in places, give the house a feeling of snug security, even during the wildest winter gales. Outside, the garden offers a series of discreet areas for informal entertaining and relaxing, and the shrub and flower borders are planted for maximum interest throughout the year. |

Exterior Details |
Soldon Manor is approached from a quiet country lane. Extending to about one and half acres in total the grounds include a walled and hedged rose and herb garden with a seating area to catch the morning sun. North of the house is a graveled courtyard with a table and chairs to seat fourteen, plus a barbecue. On the western side of the Manor is a young orchard and soft fruit garden, and across the lane a paddock, with a variety of apple trees. Hidden within an enclosed graveled rose garden, is a large outdoor chess board. This is overlooked by a roofed loggia with table and benches and a barbecue, with beautiful views towards Bradworthy. To the east of the house lies an expanse of flat lawn, perfect for ball games and croquet (a set is provided), with seating in one corner. In front of the Manor lies a more formal flower garden with an area of lawn.

What visitors have said about Soldon Manor |
| |

I just wanted to say how much we all enjoyed our stay at Soldon Manor...so many places you see these days never live up to the hype but Soldon exceeded our expectations, what a stunning house ! All 4 families in our little group had a wonderful time and were blown away by the place, so much so that there is a very good chance we may be back next year.

Just a quick email to say thank you for renting us Soldon Manor, we have had the most amazing long weekend and you couldn't wipe the smile off my mother's face! We were lucky enough to have a very sunny weekend and we made full use of the lovely grounds and all the activities nearby. You have an absolutely gorgeous property and I wouldn't think twice about recommending it to others.

Our family have just enjoyed a wonderful Christmas at Soldon Manor! We were full of admiration for your sympathetic restoration of that lovely old building. The house was warm and comfortable and wonderfully well equipped and your staff were friendly and very welcoming.
