  General Info
Surrounded by National Trust farmland, Seacombe is approached down a private stone track. The site had been owned by the family for over 20 years before the existing wooden shack was replaced by the new building. Annie, a qualified architect, designed and supervised the project. Glyn managed the self-build, Jane, Will and Joe helped and Mark (Annie's partner) was the carpenter. The result has won awards and the plaudits of many who have stayed there. From the rear, the cedar-clad building is low-key as it is built into the hill with huge glass windows to the south. On entering, the views are immediately apparent from a seating area and balcony - the three bedrooms and bathrooms are on this level while the kitchen/dining, living room and cinema are downstairs. The large walled garden offers privacy and there is a field for croquet or other games.

What visitors have said about Seacombe

I've never before found a rental house like this in Britain: floor-to-ceiling windows surround the living quarters, and slide open to admit salty breezes and birdsong. An elevated position ensures views of a changing seascape beyond the walled garden. With a cinema room, three bedrooms and put-you-up space for two downstairs, this is a great house for friends and family.

We've just got back home after our stay at Seacombe and wanted to say how much we loved your wonderful home. What a complete triumph it is - it feels completely blessed and complements the astounding location perfectly, we loved reading about the history of how your family all pitched in... well you must all be completely thrilled with the results!! We feel very lucky to have been able to enjoy it for a while too.
Mary Jane Ansell,  Brighton

'...your house and setting is simply out of this world and a perfect base for exploring and having adventures'
Emma Cordon,  London

Just a line to say how much we all enjoyed our stay at Seacombe. I don't need to tell you what a stunning location it is, but I will anyway. Unique is a much overused word in property but in this case it applies. We were fascinated to see the photos of the house being constructed, looks like a real labour of love.
Bruce McKellar,  Ringwood, Hants

We have just returned from the most fantastic week at Seacombe and have withdrawal symptoms already! We cannot speak highly enough of your beautiful house, we have been lucky enough to spend time at some beautiful luxury hotels and villas all over the world but nothing compares to Seacombe. We feel completely relaxed and re-charged ready for Christmas, I have never felt so chilled after a break in the UK (we have named Seacombe our 'UK Maldives' as this is the only other place in the world that we manage to completely relax!)
Torey Kings-hodkin,  Southsea

Well, we've been back from Seacombe for several weeks and we are still under its spell. We love the place and everyone from age 46 down to age 7, via the "difficult" teenage years, had the most fantastic holiday. Croquet, geocaching, body boarding, the cinema, board games, reading and Tesco deliveries down Devon lanes! Who needs abroad?
Sara Chambers,  West Sussex,  Aug 2012
