Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Royal House sits in beautiful grounds near to the lively market town of Kingsbridge. Furnished with an eclectic mix of the antique and the contemporary, it is the perfect place for a big family holiday – comfortable and well-appointed, yet also child-friendly. With its high ceilings and tall windows, light fills every room, but it is also well hidden behind a yew hedge and ancient beech trees. The house has extensive gardens and woods full of flora and fauna, and it is surrounded by places of interest, so whether you’re young or old, and want activity or peace and quiet, everyone is catered for. |

A holiday at the Royal House offers the perfect combination of relaxation and excitement, whatever the time of year. Kingsbridge is just 10 minutes away and is full of individual shops, cafes and restaurants, and museums and art galleries. There is a farmers’ market on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month and the quantity and quality of produce is staggering! The countryside surrounding the house is made up of rolling hills, spectacular coastline, picturesque villages and beautiful beaches so there is always something to see and do. From here you can also easily visit Dartmouth, Totnes and Salcombe. The nearest sandy beaches are just 5 miles away and activities from sailing, canoeing, rock-climbing and caving are all on offer. The difficulty will be narrowing down the options! |

The Royal House has 3 large bedrooms, one double, one twin and one with bunk and single beds. Among these are one en-suite bathroom and one family bathroom. Downstairs is an open-plan kitchen diner which is perfect for families who see the kitchen as the social hub of the house. The kitchen has all the mod cons you could need and it also has an Aga, the very essence of an English country home. French doors from the kitchen open out onto a sunny private terrace, equipped with a large patio table, a BBQ and reclining chairs for those long lunches. The spacious elegant drawing room, with its chandeliers and silk curtains, has comfy sofas, a TV with Sky and a DVD player. This is a room furnished for both summer and winter alike. A wide-sweeping staircase leads up to the bedrooms.

The house is surrounded by 8 acres of gardens and woods, perfect for relaxing in, meandering through or running about, exploring and letting off steam! The gardens have more than 100 varieties of camellia and also boast enormous rhododendrons, native trees, and a diversity of berries and blossoms. They are full of wildlife, from rabbits and squirrels to deer and foxes, not to mention the bird-watching possibilities. And all of this is right on your doorstep. A series of paths take you on a journey around the grounds, from the formal gardens to the orchard, the lawns and the historic American Garden. There is also a play area, an area for ball games, and even ladders and tyre swings hidden amongst the trees. This is nature’s own adventure playground! Whether you’re picnicking on the benches by the pond or lazing in a hammock, this is an idyllic setting.

The house is full of all the crockery and kitchenware you could possibly want and we also provide an iPod player and a selection of DVDs for guests’ use. There is a 24 hour WiFi connection and assorted books, games and toys to keep everyone entertained. We provide logs for the woodburning stove and also a welcome pack on arrival which contains everything from organic tea, milk and coffee, to cleaning materials. You really don’t need to think about anything except getting yourself here! We even provide natural organic toiletries for everyone. The only thing you need to bring is a beach towel and yourself. We can also arrange food deliveries, health and beauty treatments and babysitting, should you require it.

Rental |
For bookings made more than 2 months prior to arrival a deposit of one third is payable. For bookings made less than 2 months prior the full amount if payable. A security deposit of £200 is required.
