General Info |

| |
Fingals is a luxury country house hotel in Devon with a difference. It is situated in an idyllic valley close to the river Dart. With a swimming pool, grass tennis court, croquet lawn and French cuisine it is the perfect place for a weekend break, a romantic honeymoon or a long relaxing holiday. Housed in a historic listed building Fingals oozes character- wood panelled dining rooms , original windows and wonderful original art everywhere. We set out to make Fingals such a relaxed and easy going a place that guests would feel entirely at home. Service would willingly be there - but not at the flick of a finger nor the drop of a hat. Guests could come down for breakfast when they liked and could be sure they would not face a room of hushed voices. We refrained from labelling ourselves as "an hotel" so that the uninitiated would not come with preconceived ideas. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|
| |
Fingals is for lovers of peace and quiet in surroundings which are both romantic and full of character. Fingals is a mile away from Dittisham in Devon, a beautiful village sited on the edge of the river Dart. Greenway Quay, which is directly opposite Dittisham, is right by Agatha Christie’s summerhouse and gardens. The National Trust have finished restoring her house and it is now open to the public. Coleton Fishacre is a spectacular house and garden designed by Milne (a disciple of Lutyens) in 1925 for Rupert and Lady Dorothy D'Oyly Carte (of Gilbert and Sullivan fame). The house reflects the Arts and Crafts tradition yet has refreshingly modern interiors. Fingals is within easy reach of Dartmouth, Totnes, Salcombe and Dartmoor. Fingals is ideal for sailing holidays or as a base for exploring the South Devon coast. |

Interior Details |
Each of the ten bedrooms has its own particular style and charm and, of course, its own private bathroom en suite. There is a family suite with inter-connecting rooms in the hotel and also a self-catering barn which is perfect for a family of four. The barn gives a feeling of space and privacy yet is attached to the hotel and therefore close enough for parents to enjoy a bit of quality time free of the children! Fingals is also perfect for house parties. The sitting-room is in the rustic old manor farm kitchen where you can relax in front of the old inglenook fire. Oak beams, wood panelling, antique carpets, open fires - the new and the old blend together to create a feeling of warmth and well-being. We serve dinner in the original wood panelled dining-room on one long table. There is a smaller panelled dining-room for more intimate or 'en famille' dinners.

Exterior Details |
Fingals is a place where adults and kids can let off steam. The heated pool also has a hot tub jacuzzi and sauna. It has a half removable roof in the summer and is surrounded by colourful and exotic plants. Guests (and ducks) can laze around in the beautiful terraced garden. And the sports-minded can be energetic on the grass tennis court or the croquet lawn, or even the garden ping pong. If the weather is inclement guests can shelter in the summerhouse or stream-side orangerie or retreat to the snooker/games room or the library.

Further Details |
Fingals was just a busy little restaurant in the Fulham Road in 1980 - until I saw this - a dilapidated farmhouse in an enchanting, private valley close to the Dart River. Thus began a long project bringing the building back, developing the Devon Fingals and extending it organically to what it is today. Situated just outside the village of Dittisham, Fingals offers the experience of a small luxury boutique hotel in the beauty of South Devon. If you are looking for a special hotel for your stay in Devon - a hotel that is different from the run of the mill hotels; then Fingals is for you. It is child friendly with some family rooms and self catering - one in a newly built green oak barn - for families whose parents enjoy caring for their own children in an atmosphere that feels like a home from home. Fingals is child friendly - kind to kids, dogs as well as adults. If you are looking for a luxury Devon hotel for a weekend break, or a secluded romantic honeymoon hotel, or that special place for a wedding reception to remember, then Fingals should be top of your list.

Conditions of Rental |
Prices include bed and breakfast for all room-occupants. Reduction for single occupancy. Fingals is a child friendly place as long as the children are people and hotel friendly. Small fee for providing cot or child’s bed in parent’s room. Thereafter we charge £15 per night per child in their parents room (this includes breakfast).
Eating at Fingals is one of the highlights of the day. We provide an early high tea for children at around 6pm (Fingals time of course!) . Children can also eat a full dinner en famille at a discounted price. A barbecue and roast are served on Sundays and Mondays. If you want to want to bring your pooch you must clear it with us first and then we charge £5 per night (without Pedigree dinner). All our food is sourced locally and is as fresh and organic as possible - a vegetarian option is always available.

This place is bonkers! The disco, the casino, the all-night pool rave-ups, the on-call hookers and of course the tequila slammin' pot parties ....! I shall return for more relaxation later in the year on my smacked up Arab stallion waving an AK47 in the air..... will ring for confirmation! Loved it, love you all.
