General Info |
|
| |
Clare Park was built in 1970 and is most interesting and even intriguing in its design. Just under an acre of lawn slopes gently down to the riverside, from where there is direct gated access onto the foreshore.
Those who are looking for water based activities will be spoilt for choice; there is canoeing, sailing, rowing, water skiing, wakeboarding, windsurfing and swimming right at the bottom of the garden.
Also, there is ample opportunity to cast a line in the hope of catching something for the evening meal. Land based activities are also well catered for, with miles of walks in the surrounding rolling countryside and along the estuary right on the doorstep. Cyclists can enjoy long rides on small country lanes, or for those who like their cycling more rugged and challenging, there are many and varied green lanes available to explore around the immediate area.
Coastal beaches are within 10 minutes and the wild open spaces of Dartmoor a 30 minute drive.

Torbay is the collective name for Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, the three towns nestled around the exceptionally sunny bay which boasts a number of Blue Flag beaches. Haldon Forest Park is a superb area of forest about 10 miles away by car. There are plenty of waymarked trails, some suitable for prams, many suitable for walkers and a number of specialised bike trails, ranging from easy to hard off road tracks. In addition there are some bike skills areas, Segway facilities and a GoApe centre. Teignmouth, Shaldon and Dawlish are all interesting and scenic small towns with a myriad of attractions, from golf courses, tennis courts, sandy beaches, rock pools, cliff walks, amusement arcades and a range of shops and cafes.
Exeter and Plymouth with their shopping and cultural opportunities are easily accessible by car or train from Clare Park and good destinations for a day trip, especially if the weather is not too conducive to outdoor activities.

Interior Details |
Clare Park is all on one level and the majority of rooms enjoy spectacular views across the garden, onto the river and the undulating countryside beyond.
The four bedrooms comfortably sleep eight but two bedrooms, each with ensuite bathrooms, are so spacious that extra beds can be accommodated. The fourth bedroom has full size bunk beds.
The bathrooms and the shower room have been restyled and upgraded, including installation of under floor heating and heated towel rails. The modern kitchen is fully equipped and sliding glass doors from the large dining room provide access to the internal courtyard. This is a particularly unique feature; the house wraps around this paved area thus providing a sheltered space which, when the sun is shining, is a veritable suntrap. A table and chairs are provided for outdoor eating and relaxing. The comfortable sitting room has TV with freeview channels, DVD player, CD player, an open fire and access to internal courtyard.

Exterior Details |
Clare Park enjoys arguably the best position on the estuary. Gently sloping lawned gardens provide opportunity for games or simply a fantastic view point from which the many activities taking place on the river can be enjoyed. Access to the river and the river beach is through a lockable gate. When the tide is in there is easy access for watersports directly from the garden: when it is out there are pleasant walks along the foreshore suitable for even the smallest member of the family. Cycling can also be enjoyed directly from Clare Park, with plenty of route possibilities ranging from quick short circuits to rides that can take all day! There is ample storage in the garage and a games room to enjoy the darts board and mini pool table and mini table tennis table.
