A contemporary conversion of a farm building, on our small farm at the end of a country lane. There is upper floor, open-plan living space, with a wood-burner, dining area and a modern kitchen with views onto our farm on all sides. There are 3 light and spacious bedrooms on ground level, leading out to a sunny balcony overlooking the fields. Footpaths surround our working mixed farm, where we keep Black Welsh Mountain Sheep, Red Devon Cattle and traditional breeds of outdoor-reared pigs. We manage the land under a Higher Level Stewardship scheme, which ensures that the orchids and other wild flowers are preserved and the birds and wildlife continue to flourish. We have our own meat available in season and eggs most days. We can recommend award-winning restaurants and pubs that are worth a journey, great farm shops and markets for superb local produce, and the usual supermarkets. We can arrange quality catering and box delivery on request. |

What visitors have said about Buckhouse Farm Barn |

After arriving from a short 3 hour drive down the A303 we were met with a most welcoming smile and a cozy fire. It was so peaceful that we accidentally had a short nap before preparing supper! Luckily we had brought a few provisions with us as on a friday evening there aren't a lot of shops around (plenty of pubs though)However, this is far from the truth once you're up and about on a Saturday morning. Fresh Shellfish from Beer fish 01297 20297 was outstanding, scallops with a pulse and crabs the size of dinner plates. We spent the afternoon on the terrace shelling and dressing the crabs. There is a well stocked Kitchen and lots of space. A quick trip to Honiton to the local off licence was the only event that felt like a chore. Walks across the fields to visit the Red Devon cows was a delight in the twilight. An evening next to a Barbecue followed by an early night. I always seem to feel sleepy in Devon!
Sunday, was spent at the wonderful Branscombe beach. And so it began....... over the next week we rarely repeated ourselves in what we did. Venturing a little further day by day into what must be one of the loveliest parts of the country. My only regret.........spending so much time asleep. Why does Devon do this to you?

“Buckhouse Farm is a fabulous place to visit and we would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a rural holiday. It is a beautifully designed and decorated barn conversion, which has been fitted out to a high standard. It is a bit of a trek through really narrow lanes, but it is well worth it when you arrive at the farm with all its tranquillity and stunning views of the countryside. Deborah and Anthony made us feel very welcome and were really considerate hosts.
It was a really relaxing place to spend time, and our 5 year-old twins loved walking around the farm and being introduced to all the animals (there was Ella the pig and her piglets, chickens, sheep and cows, plus a load of alpacas at a neighbouring farm). Once you’ve got your bearings it really isn’t that far to drive to the local town of Colyton or the lovely nearby beaches, such as Branscombe, Seaton and Lyme Regis.
We tend not to go back to the same place twice for our holidays, as we like to keep finding different places. However Buckhouse Farm is the exception and we would love to come back again soon.” The Galpin Family, Oxfordshire

Buckhouse Barn was a great place for our family winter break (aged 10 to 81 years old). Fantastic setting in the countryside with great walks to be had right from the front door or if not feeling energetic sit with the doors open relax and enjoy the view. The location feels remote and relaxing but is in fact within easy driving distance to a large variety of attractions beaches, markets, eateries (including River Cottage & Canteen), country villages or Exeter with an airport for access, cathedral, art gallery and large selection of shops. On return from any outing the Barn was always toasty warm even on the frostiest winter night with its log burner and central heating. Everything is provided at the Barn just add food and people!
Highly recommend to stay here as a family or as a couple.
