General Info |
|
| |
Tregreen, which was built around 1970 and which has been extended and improved during the winter of 2006/7, is situated at the top of the cliff above Greenaway Beach, Trebetherick on the North Cornish coast. It is an exceptionally well situated and appointed holiday home, with extensive views out to sea, of Pentire Point and Stepper, and also up the River Camel estuary past Brae Hill on the near side and Padstow on the far side. It can sleep 12/14 people. The house has a broadband connection with internal wi-fi. Polzeath Beach, which is excellent for surfing when the sea conditions are right, is a ten minute walk to the north, whilst Daymer Bay, which is renowned as a safe sandy family beach, is rather closer in the opposite direction. Greenaway Beach, which has wonderful rock pools at low tide is immediately below the house and is approached by steps down the cliff below Tregreen. |

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation |
|

There are many pursuits for all ages in Cornwall. Rock, which is 2 miles away and sheltered by its position up the Camel Estuary, is well-known for its sailing, water-skiing, wind-surfing and sea fishing. Padstow, which has a particularly attractive old harbour, can be visited by taking a modern ferry for the short distance from Rock. There are two 18 hole golf courses at St. Enodoc Golf Club, which is situated between Trebetherick and Rock. There is also another 18 hole golf course and sports complex at Roserrow, just outside Polzeath. There is a wealth of excellent walks, particularly along the cliff path and round Pentire Point. There is a wide variety of bird life in the estuary and beyond Pentire. Most summers dolphins are sighted in the bay; seals are regular visitors throughout the year. Slightly further away are the villages of Port Quin, Port Isaac, St. Endellion, Tintagel and Boscastle. |

Exterior Details |
The grass area round the house provides space for play and privacy, and is bordered on two sides by traditional Cornish walls. For children there is a wooden climbing-frame with two swings and a slide. The house is situated at the end of a driveway, so there is no passing traffic. Pedestrian access to the cliff-top path and the beaches is via either of two paths which lead down from opposite ends of the property. The garden wall facing the sea, which is set back some 100 yards from the cliff-edge, ensures privacy from walkers on the cliff path, but the lie of the land is such that the spectacular views are not obstructed. The house is in an ideal cliff-top location with superb views out to sea and up the Camel Estuary. There is ample room for parking several cars on the tarmac in front of the house.

Further Details |
There is a general stores and post office in Trebetherick, where ready-made home-cooked meals can be purchased. The shop can also deliver provisions in advance. Other holiday supplies can be found either in Polzeath, where there is a good Spar and a number of surfing shops, or Rock, which is renowned for its bakery and butcher. Wadebridge has much improved as a shopping centre in recent years and there is a Tesco store just off the by-pass towards Padstow. There is also much to discover in the hinterland leading to Bodmin Moor, an area which was the inspiration for many of the books and poems of John Betjeman, who is buried in Trebetherick in the churchyard of St. Enodoc. On the other side of the estuary, Padstow is the base of Rick Stein's restaurant business, whilst Newquay is an international surfing centre. The rest of Cornwall is within a day's reach, including the Eden Project, close to St. Austell, the mini Tate Gallery at St. Ives, as well as, of course, many famous Cornish gardens. A popular excursion is to hire bicycles in Wadebridge and ride along the old railway line to Padstow (or vice versa).
