  Property Location
The Old Mill House Stone Cottage Limassol, Kyrenia Region, Cyprus

  One-off feature
The Old Mill House is in a tiny and tranquil village (with less than 10 houses) where you can immerse yourself in the surrounding nature and your own orange grove, yet is just 20 minutes from the coast. It is a stone built villa, once home to the horses who worked the mill.

  General Info
The villa was rebuilt and refurbished to expose stone walls and oak beams as its key features, alongside Western mod-cons. When staying at the villa, the surrounding nature will thoroughly enchant you. Birdsong is heard all day, whilst traffic is a memory of the past. Mountain views compete with anywhere, and the climate is stunning; some say Cyprus has over 330 days of sunshine per year. Klonari (the village) is easily accessible with good roads and beaches only 20-25 minutes away. The dual carriage way is 15 minutes drive giving you access to many Cyprus attractions. The stunning church across the road from the villa is thought to be 16th century and contains wonderful, original frescos. The lady who lives opposite the villa has the enormous key that allows you to view this fantastic marriage of Cyprus history, village religion, and art.

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation
The villa is a starting point for lots of walks and is only one minute from a British-run golf club (Vikla Golf). The golf club has a swimming pool (guests are welcome for a donation), bar, and serves sandwiches and snacks. The area is ideal for bird watching/ornithologists, mountain walkers and amblers, nature lovers, and Cyprus golfing holidays. Children can play in a very quiet area, adults can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Cyprus village and location, yet you are just a short drive from the Cyprus beaches and Limassol city (the second biggest in Cyprus). Limassol has bars, restaurants, beaches, a port, a castle, museums, compact shopping centre, and much more. The next nearest village, Kellaki, is five minutes from Klonari and contains a further delightful church, café, and a small supermarket that sells all daily essentials.

  Getting there & away/local amenities
Getting There: It's probably best to fly into Larnaca, but there's no reason why you shouldn't fly into Paphos. It would be slightly further to drive, but if the flights are significantly cheaper it might be worth it! It is most definitely recommended that you hire a car - you cannot see the most beautiful parts of Cyprus by bus or public transport. Furthermore, even for one person, hiring a car for one day can be cheaper than paying for a tourist coach. Should you wish, we can arrange a taxi from Larnaca airport to The Old Mill House and then you could arrange for your hire car to be left at the cottage.

What visitors have said about The Old Mill House Stone Cottage

If you want peace and tranquility, and be reasonably close to a large urban centre, this is definitely the place. The Old Mill house is located in the charming village of Klonari. The villagers are friendly without being nosey. The location is breathtaking in the mountains of Cyprus. It brings you back to a time where life wasn't so fast paced. The Old Mill house itself is a well modernized old building, clean, sunny, pleasant, and includes all the amenities needed to make a comfortable stay. We honeymooned there for 2 weeks and we wished we could have stayed longer. We hope to come back for our 5th wedding anniversary.

We had fun! The house is perfectly situated for visiting the rest of the island while at the same time being away from the "hubub" of the coast. The fresh cold air in the evenings makes the wood fire a cosy focus to sit around. But the sunny days allowed us to go home with some colour in our cheeks. We have recovered our energy here and I hope you do the same! We made a couple of excursions into the north and found that the people are just as open and warm hearted as in the south. Let's hope that the division can be torn down sometime soon. The island appeared to us to have just one soul.

Wonderful holidays in Cyprus and in the Old Mill House. We came back on Sunday (as we stayed for an another week in Paphos). Klonari is a very peaceful town and we met nice people (and our 3 kids got new friends even though they spoke a different language!). The house is well equipped and we had all we needed! We visited Limassol, Agya Napa, Kolossi, Kourion, Lefkosia (and the Turkish part) one day in Trodoos, and also beaches of course! The weather was wonderful (as it was rainy all this time in France!). The kids were crazy about all the cats!! We have plenty of photographs!!! Sorry that we are not very "creative" and we only read poems on the wall; we haven't created anything for the house (but the children made drawings!).
